access low rollup for me. been using it for 4 years, still fits nicely, and I have not adjusted the tension since I installed it. I've not seen any rollup that fits as nice. you'll be thankful you got a rollup.

does the access roll up use clamps or attaches behind CMS rail like the literider?

considering the prices on truck alterations I'm undecided between the truxedo lo pro, the access roll up or the access literider.

I had the Access on an 2008 Tundra that still looks like the day I installed it. Full use of the bed and secures in the front when rolled. That way you don't have to worry about a folding panel rubbing on your cab. Tight as a drum, literally, you could tap on it and hear it go boom. On the Tacoma (with the Original Access, at least) you remove the rails and put the frame work of the cover between the rail and the bedside. That way you can still utilize the tie down straps. I don't know about the low profile one though.

Also the LiteRider does leave very minimal gap between top of the tailgate and the cover itself which was not the case with the Truxedo LoPro Qt for me.

I really like the undercover product line but they are expensive (to me) new. I am holding out for a used one.

I wonder if that gap is unique to early versions or just the Lite-Rider. My original Access cover has no gap at all above the tailgate. In fact its tight enough theres some resistance when opening and closing because it rubs on the cover.

There is very minimal gap with the Access LiteRider I got in early 2012. That picture is quite dark to see clearly, but the actual gap is very small. The cover however does not touch the tailgate. On the other hand, there was a huge gap with the Truxedo I got in 2009.

I just checked my order receipt. I got it in 1/2010 for $385 (I got the limited). The price now is $389, and I did not get any LED light, retriever or cleaner.

I am sure I had to remove the rails and install the metal piece behind the rails (this is where the velcro on the canvas attaches to). I suggest you call them to make sure.

Order date: Jan 25, 2010 2:51 PM PST

    1 80766E - 05+ Tacoma 5' Access Limited $385.00
    1 3176BA - Pop N Lock Manual Tailgate Lock 09+ Tacoma w/wo Camera $47.00
1 Message - 2010 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab Short Bed $0.00
    Tax (CA) : $0.00
    Total: $432.00

BTW, to OP, you might consider increasing your budget a little to add the tailgate lock since your are covering the bed with a tonneau.

I got the same when I bought new. I never had to adjust the tesion and the velcro seems to go right in place without pulling it tight. It's the Access Limited.

I personally would have no use for a tri-fold. If you fold it all the way open, the rear window is blocked.

I have the Truxedo low pro. Best customer service you can get. I got a small rip in my original and contacted them. All they asked was what size and sent me a new cover for free. Service like that is always worth it to me.

So how does the literider do with water? Does it leak at all or minimal?

Thanks for all your input so far.

I dont think I need a lock since I will not be leaving anything in the bed. The only stuff we do put in the is the baby's stroller but that goes everywhere with us. I mainly want the tonneau to keep dirt and the leave from the neighbors oak tree of the bed so i can throw in the baby's stroller.

When going through carwash or really heavy downpour, there may be small leaks inside. Was the same with truxedo. It all depends on how much of weatherstriping you put on and how good of a job you do installing it. The more expensive access limited cover comes with more weatherstripping.

Extang solid fold easy and quick to remove. I added a pop & lock . keeps my tools, golf clubs, and suit cases safe and dry.

For your purposes I would just snag a tonnopro soft fold. Very inexpensive but quality trifold cover. Good warranty. Had one on my truck until I went with a bak fibermax. Tonnopro works with the rails and can be fully removed in 5 minutes.
