Has anyone ever attempted to install a clamp down tonneau cover through the sides of your factory over-the-rail bed liner? I'm thinking of installing the Lund Genesis Tri-Fold,

    on my '03 Tacoma

The tonneau has 4 clamps that need to contact the inside bottom edge of the metal bedrail. To accomplish this, I'm thinking of creating access holes through the plastic bed-liner to the metal bedrail. Just wondering if anyone has tried this method.

more than likely, yes. to get anything to sit on the rails you need to cut access holes in the plastic part

I'd like the OTR style but that fact it doesn't fold under makes it look horrible
