Very easy. The front and rear panels lift off and then the center section is held on with 4 clamps. I can have it off in less than 5 minutes

With the amount of rain we get, 15% water leaks would have my truck's bed filled in a couple hours.

I use the Truxedo Titanium. It keeps almost all the water out, keeps cargo in the box secure when the tailgate is locked, can hold up to something like 400 lbs on top, and can be easily removed. Looks just like a normal soft roll up cover, but has aluminum bars/braces that span across the box to basically form a rollable hard cover. Check them out. They're spendy but very well worth it. I may be able to beat online prices on them, but would have to look into it more.

When you guys say 90-95% watertight...does any of that water come from the hinges, or only in the corners and along the bed rails?

I got the Tyger off of Amazon. Not expensive, simple, easy to use. It won't seal water tight, and it's a soft top so it's not super secure... but it covers the bed and doesn't look bad. It also does not cost a fortune.

If I had my drothers, I'd get the Bak Revolver. But then.. I may end up getting a softtopper later this year... and perhaps a GoFast Camper top next year or the year after.

I've got the Retrax Pro MX, some water only gets in at the back corners when going through the car wash. Supposedly they can handle 500lbs on top of the rack.

I had the Peragon on my Silverado. Overall, I loved it. A common complaint was that it was stiff and didn't retract easily, but the website and many user reviews stated that over several days/weeks it would break in and be smooth. That was my experience as well. I had my be LineX'ed before installing the Peragon, which seems to be a moot point with the Tacoma, but the Tacoma stock bed seems roughly comparable to a spray on liner of any other truck, so it should be similar. I was hesitant to buy the Peragon, mostly because I bought my Silverado new and the thought of drilling into the bed (possibly introducing rust and voiding a warranty) was concerning. After reading a lot of reviews I went ahead and did it. I had no issues the entire time I owned it (late 2013 - late 2016). Installation took a few hours, and at one point I called customer service for help - they were outstanding (which is also something I've read from their reviews).

It's definitely not waterproof, but I don't think any retractable cover will be. It also gets very hot (I was living in San Diego when I had mine, and opening it in July was unpleasant...). It largely kept cargo sheltered from the elements, however. Also, the aluminum construction presents enough of a barrier that it is probably unlikely that anyone will try to break into it without even knowing if anything valuable is in the bed. The price is definitely competitive compared to other retractable covers. I was considering the Bakflip, but I didn't like that when fully opening the bed the Bakflip would cover the entirety of the rear window. When opening the Peragon to gain access to the bed, you lose between 6 - 12" space, but still have full visibility. Further, if you need that space, the cover removes completely, without tools, in just seconds and fits in the back row of the truck. It's lightweight and easily done by one person.

I just bought a 2018 TRD Off Road last weekend, and a tonneau is one of the first accessories I'm looking at. The Peragon was a great fit on my silverado (extended cab with a 6.5' bed), however I'm not so sure with the Tacoma. The price still destroys the others I'm considering (Retrax, Pace Edwards), however with the Tacoma it requires the removal of the adjustable tie-down bars, which I consider to be a useful part of the bed. Also, the competition doesn't require drilling and is compatible with aftermarket bed racks. As far as I can tell, the Peragon is not. Peragon is a good looking cover. In addition to the black powder coat paint, they offer white (I believe it is $200 more), and they can also color match your vehicle's paint code, creating many more aesthetic options than competing retractable covers.

I've been looking at tonneaus for the past week or so, and, as far as I can tell, the Retrax and Pace Edwards retractable systems seem better suited to the Tacoma, so long as price and color options aren't an issue. As far as I can tell, however, the ability to select a custom cover on a retractable tonneau is unique to the Peragon. Also, coming in at $750 ($650 if you are military, a first responder, or returning customer), it is about half the price of some of its competition.

Do you have a SB or LB? I'm looking at getting the gator composite version of this but I'm a bit hesitant due to the size of the container, especially since I have a SB.

Do like this cover? I know a dude selling one for $540 thats a year old. How much space does it leave up front when fully retracted? Anything you not like about it? Sorry for all the questions, lol...

I just purchased an undercover flex and very happy with it. Got it on a nice sale at autoanything for about $250 less than the bakflip counterpart.

Don't get a Bakflip. It's design relocates the bed rails makes it incompatible with any bed rack attachment option. I had to uninstall the entire Bakflip MX4 to use rail mounted rack.
I end up getting rid of the Bakflip.

Yea I have this same one also. If you put everything on tightly it works very well. Put it through a car wash and it kept most water out still. Also we had a pretty big snowstorm this week and it held all 24” of snow we got without a problem!
