Hey guys! I was looking to get a Tonneau Cover for my Taco but wasn’t sure if I should purchase an OEM one, or go for a Bakflip MX4. Any suggestions?

My DCLB OR came from the dealer with a LoMax hard cover and has worked very well so far. They're a little lower profile than the Bakflip and cost a little less. I did some research here before I bought my truck, and I am led to believe while the OEM is good, the LoMax and BakFlip are just a little better build quality, and a member here was either doing a group buy or them or had a sizable discount for TW members.

Awesome thank you very much for the feedback! I’m just looking around right now doing research as well, especially focusing on the coast factor because I know brands such as Bakflip can be about $900 +

Everyone has different needs for tonneau cover.
Some security, some looks, some toughness to load stuff on it....you'll need to know what you want it for. Do searches, watch YouTube.
There's a LOT of options to your budget.

Welcome to the forum from Eastern North Carolina.

Extang Encore. It opens front or rear, can be removed without tools by one person in just a minute, and the front lock can be keyed the same as your ignition/door key.

    https://extang.com/encore-tonno

I got mine from a local retailer for considerably less than MSRP.

My biggest concern is water, not security. Second is ease of removal so I can have a full bed to load. Price is also important. Not looking to spend more than $1000 unless it is really worth it. I went with the Extang Trifecta 2.0 because I usually like soft tri-folds. Not sure about it yet, but it's growing on me. I don't like the handle clamps. If I find I don't like it by the summer, I'll probably sell locally while it's still in good shape and look into either the Lomax or maybe Foldacover.

truxedo low pro fan here. had the oem factory toyota tri-fold tonneau, although it sealed well, i didnt like the fact that when you needed the whole bed, you had to take it completely off, AND THEN, IT WOULDING FIT IN THE SHORT BED BOX, it was designed to cover. you would think that the engineers would have made the box long enough, or the tonneau short enough, to be able to store the tonneau folded up, lying flat in the bed with the gate closed. but, that is not the case here. your results may vary. I second this. I have a Lomax and love it. As long as you use the weather stripping that’s provided, you shouldn’t have much if any water get in. It’s very low profile and is a high quality cover. Go check out the Lomax thread under the tonneau section and Lucas with truck alterations can help you out with a TW discount.

Most will leak to a degree and how well it's put together. The only time mine leaks is when washing the truck with jet stream. It could sit for a day when raining and VERY little would get in.

My main concern was keeping stuff in back and secured. I cant have stuff loose all over inside the truck. Anything rattling irks me. After a LOT of searches I bought the LEER HF350M.
One thing stood out the sales lady pointed out, is the Leer unit is not a cable release which can be easily pulled with a hanger slid in . The Leer lock tabs are released via tabs pushed together from either side.
No way to lift the tonneau without tailgate down.
It rests slightly above bed rails , 3mm , so water leak is minimal AND * no drilling for drain hose *.
Removal takes less than a minute.
Like anything, if you don't take care of it, nothing will last.
Use 303 Aerospace Protectant to block uv. Recommended by tonneau shop.
Mine still looks new after a year.
