I have an Access L/E tonneau on my truck - had it on for about 5 years now.

You can use the OEM cleats and they do not poke into the cover.

The rails are still strong and not wobbly - at least I have had no issues with it. It's not strong enough for you to walk on or anything, but I had used the ties downs with no issues.

    Good Luck!!

I've had great luck on other trucks with a TonnoPro Tri-Fold, so I'm going to also get one for my Taco.

I've noticed, however that there seems to be more of a gap in height on the front of the bed/top of the tailgate in relation to the sidebeds than on my (former) F-150s.

Although there is pretty sufficient foam weatherstripping on the cover, I'm wondering if I may have to add some additional foam weatherstripping to keep windflow from coming up from under the cab in front of the bed.

And - do y'all put the front edge of the tonneau right up against the back of the cab as instructed, or flush with the front edges of the side rails?

If anyone has this type of cover (or any experience with the gap(s), any advice/input is appreciated!

I wouldn't put the cover against the cab, it will rub and damage the paint. I'd go flush with the front of the side rails.

I used the rubber material that came with the cover. It was supposed to be for the tailgate but I used it there to fill the gap. So far so good.

Sorry if it's too late to weight in, but on my previous trucks I had these hinged:
    http://extang.com/docs/fulltilt.html
Liked the versatility and ease of use. Had one from one company (forget the brand) and one from Extang, which I liked better. Cover tilts open, unsnaps and rolls up, or the whole thing can be removed in less than 45 seconds. I know the complaints about snaps; I had each of my covers for 5+ years each in the northeast and never had a problem. Yes, they are a bit more finicky in the winter, but the snaps on the Extang and adjustable, and the bows have 2 positions which offset cover getting stiff in the winter. If I end up getting the Taco, I'm putting one of these on it.

Nice write-up! Covers are, for a lot of us, like watches...we each like different types and features. So, it's pretty much a matter of personal preference, ease of use, etc.

The one I'm getting always fit very snug, secure, and very, very minimal flapping. No assembly at all...just take out of the box, position on top of the bed, and adjust the little clamps to the underside of the bed rails and it's ready to go. It folds into three sections, very easily and simply, and the price from AutoAnything was very pleasing.

Oh - and it comes off in a jiffy too, if you need to haul..no rails to intall for snaps, etc.

Question for all you access users,
I just bought an 09 that has a literider installed. It rained for the first time since I bought the truck and the cover leaked like a sieve, there was a puddle in the bed this morning and I could see the water dripping all along the seam between the rail and bed.

I tightened up the 4 screws on each side but what else can I do to make it more waterproof?
I know there will most likely always be a little bit of water getting in but the literider I installed myself on my old 1st gen barely leaked at all.

    Hi all,
Received and installed access cover ltd on my 2012 base taco 4x4 6'bed. I'm very happy. Install went ok and fits great. Two imputs. Get a second pair of hands just to help hold up the side rails while you put in the screws. Also,as the rear most bed sides have a slight non vertical slant, i added a spacer washer on the rearmost mount screws to help keep the side rails horizontal at the tailgate end...

    Thanks all !

Which Access Tonneau Cover is that? I looked for a "LE" but don't see one on Tonneau Covers World.

Oh, O.K. It is the Access Limited. You said "LE" and that had me confused. Sounds like it is going to hold up good in the heat. It gets really hot -n- humid here during the summer.

I should have put the exact name instead of LE (limited edition). :D I can guarantee that it held up well in the heat. Not sure about humidity, it's really dry where I live.

Nice! I hope it works out for you! If you don't already have a lockable tailgate, it's a really nice addition to the cover. I somewhat have a big car trunk with those two add-ons. :locked:

Edit: But wait, you have a '16 Tacoma. Yours must have a factory lock, no?

Yeah the 2016's have the locking tail gate. Good security to keep someone from stealing the tail gate.

Holds up fine in the humidity. Have had mine on since summer of '08 and it shows a little wear, but in real good shape for 8 years old. Only thing is the little LE medallion fell off.
