They are OK if you do not live where it snows. If you do they are basically useless in the winter since the rolling mechanism gets gunked up with snow and ice.

I'd put it along with other one-piece tonneau's in VERY last place.

The only time this might not be true, is if you use your truck as a sedan and don't use the box. Can't put tall things in the box, putting stuff near the back causes you to have to crawl in there like a pig to get it out, you have to remove the monster if you want to move yourself etc. And they aren't super light or easy to handle with one person. The problem is compounded because they are often painted/color matched so you're afraid to scratch the damn thing.

With a hard tri-fold you could put an ATV on top, load the box with small stuff like gas/tires/whatever.

Or you could roll it back and throw a fridge in there standing up. While folding the tri-fold up to protect the window.

Or you can remove it in like 2 seconds, in a easy to carry 1x4 foot rectangle.

Does anyone know of a tonneau cover that has an integrated box, like a toolbox for storage? I swore I saw a cover with an integrated box just can't find it now.

Trifecta owners, mine just came today, and so much for the 5 minute install. Question: the cover came with alternative brackets for the 2005+ Tacoma. The bracket closest to the cab of the truck doesn't appear to grab onto the bed rail, so I installed the brackets, but the clip doesn't catch the bracket! Here is the bracket in the up position:

The bracket doesn't go up enough to catch the clip.

and here it is in the down position:

It's not low enough to catch the bottom of the clip. Yes, I unscrewed the clamp all the way. What am I missing? This should be easy.

Thanks, I went back out and noticed that it compresses after I posted my pics. It's always something simple.

    x3!

my undercover se not only looks great but, they claim it can support just over a thousand pounds on its surface so a tent or really anything else you want to stick up there should be no problem at all.

its solidly built and looks awesome imo :)

I am considering this kind of cover. No one around here has one...

    1. - does this cover leak a lot? I do not care if there is a little leaking. I am in New England and we get snow and ice.

    2. when it locks does it overlap the tailgate so that cannot be stolen as easily?

    3. do you think that it could support a snowfall of say a foot?

    4. if a plastic shovel is run over it do you think that it will scratch and look awful?

Thanks for the replies. I want to hear these things from someone who has one instead of a salesperson.

DO NOT BUY FOLD-A-COVER FROM STEFFENS AUTOMOTIVE! You will never be able to remove it and reinstall it because of an obvious flaw that they know about, but refuse to correct. All the mounting hardware is custom machined aluminum, and all the fasteners are stainless, creating a dissimilar metal reaction that oxidizes the fasteners into the hardware causing the 1/4" Stainless bolts to break off if you try to remove them. Not only that, but they sell replacement hardware kits with about $20 worth of materials for $100 plus $12 shipping! So a couple years after paying over $800 for a Fold-a cover, if you need to remove or adjust your cover in any way, you will be forced to pay $112 for a new hardware kit made out of the same faulty materials.

So far I've added an Advance folding bed cover and since removed it. FS to go a good home. GT perfect fit seat covers. Weathertech floor mats and window vent visors. Waag center brush/grill guard. Hose clamp tailgate mod. Turned off the seat belt chime. Added Ultra-Gauge. Trailer hitch. Softopper. Replaced sun visors with slide out style. Toyota bed extender. More mods to come; Fog lights, locking storage in bed, intermittent wipers. Now looking for Radio/HU upgrade. and maybe a lift way down the road.
Called the company they are send me replacement seals for the lock pockets but I'm not optimistic. They wouldn't throw in a new hinge seal that is torn.

I'm pretty sure this spring it'll be a tool box getting installed.
    :(
