Tonneau covers

    I bought a 2008 Tacoma, with a double cab, I want to put a limited edition tonneau cover on by ACCESS, but the bed has the factory rail caps on either side and rails on the inside off the beds, on the sides and in the front. Will that prohibit me from clamping on the rails for the cover.
    I had a 2002 Dakota with one on it, and clamped the cover rails right to the bed, but looking at this bed on the Tacoma..it doesn't look like it will mount the same way.

    My Access soft cover came with instructions that had you remove the bed rails, install spacers and the tonneau rails, and reinstall the bed rails inside the cover.

    I can still use my bed side and header rails and the cover. No issues.

    which tonneau covers are water resistant? the hard tops or soft tops?

    Both are water resistant....Hard tops are generally water tight. Soft covers can be made water tight with a bit of work.

    ^My educated guess would be hard tops. The soft covers, IMO, will never be 100% water resistant. However, even without the Element Seal, I see very little water getting through the Access Literider on my truck. What water does get through runs down the front part of the bed, under the bed mat, and out the back.

    Yeah...I get water along the header of the bed- Mostly in the corners. I don't use a bed mat but it just runs out the back or dries out in the bed from evaporation. I had my Dakota sealed up pretty well. Weather strip and Silcone worked like a charm.
