Welcome to TW! Quality and durable covers don't come cheap when bought brand new! And cheap covers are just that! Have you considered looking for a used one? Great deals are out there if you have the luxury of time to look.

    You only cry once.

    Caveats:
none of them are 100% leak proof.
all of them do a pretty good job.

I went with Undercover. One peice solid and waterproof. Some don't like it 'cause it does not fold up. Personal preference I guess.

Check out the forum for covers

I had a truxport truxedo before switching to a softopper and it was great. Zero issues with leaking. If youre in the Midwest come buy it off me

I have a BakFlip G2. Well worth the money (paid 720 USD) but they have gone way up.
I think the Rough Country hard tri-fold is similar to a BakFlip, but at a much better price.

I really like the stock tri fold one that came with my truck. The hard plastic one not the canvas one. It doesnt fold up all the way tho.

I looked at the diamond back covers for fun and holy cow. 2 grand for a frikin tonneau cover? Im sure they are really well made and all, but idk if I would pay that much for a cover ever.

Had a bak revolver X2 on my old truck for 6 years, Absolute trash if you ever want to get in it in winter. Frozen shut constantly and the vinyl split after 2 years, went with a bison trifold for my taco. Much better quality then I was expecting for the price which was about $740 shipped. Looked at a bak mx4 for about 5 minutes, sorry but im not paying 1900 cad for a tonneau cover I'll only use in winter.

I've parked beside my buddy with a mx4 and compared the two, the only difference is the material on his seems a bit more sturdy but not by much. Certainly not worth 1200 more. All of the mechanism/clips and everything like that are the same. I've dealt with bak customer service a few times and I have nothing good to say about that.

I paid $1500 for my DB SE (after a good military discount). If I had to strip all the mods off of my truck except for one, the DB would be the easy choice. Look at all the mods people do to their Tacos that cost in the ball park of the cost of a DB. They are expensive, no doubt. But for me It was worth it. It was going to be a DB or a bed cap and look at the price of those. To the OP, you are not going to get a new cover of any quality at a bargain price. As mentioned, your best bet is scoring a good used cover.

I never wanted one that didn't fold up, but then I came across an Undercover for $150 missing the mounting hardware. Called undercover and they said they'd ship me the hardware for 150 bux. Let the seller know, he gave it to me for $50 bux, and the hardware ended up being only like 120 and they shipped it to me for free. I only use it occasionally, but I love how easy it is to take on and off. Definitely gives me piece of mind how strong it seems, and since it keeps my tailgate from opening (mine doesn't lock) it's all the better for security. Love it!

    I'll argue your statement.
I dont have any leakage with my roll-up. Have it for close to 6 years and live in Seattle. So it is battle tested

I think assuming a tonneau or canopy will be 100% leak proof leads to a lot of angry people that don't know better. It's awesome you don't have any leakage, both of my canopies did. Can't recall if my Tonneau ever has. don't use it that much. My sister's tonneau leaks a little, as does my fathers.

I did pass on tri-folds and lower profile once. Went with truxport from Truxedo. Sealed the tailgate, did not bother to seal those 2 hole in the front of the bed. 303 keeps it aging well.

I have one also and it doesn't leak at all. I bought mine 6 months used as the guy went to a topper and got it for $125.
