How cold is cold weather? It rarely gets below 40 degrees here lol
I seen xtang and gatorx for soft not sure what hard aluminum ones there are.
I assume they are all pretty much easy to put on, like with no tools?

Some have built in tension adjustable clamps; others have hardware that's installed onto the bed rails which allow the cover to secure to.

I've had 2 hard covers and 1 soft on a couple trucks. With the soft cover I've always wanted to upgrade to a nicer and more secure hard cover. I've never looked at my hard covers and wished that I've saved a little bit of money and gotten a soft cover.

My Lomax aluminum is probably 30lbs. I was interested in Diamondback covers which are around 100lbs and for similar reasons as yours I went with the Lomax. I wasn't looking for vault like security, but wanted my items relatively secure if it was parked at the grocery store or restaurant.

I have a Tyger soft rollup cover that came on my used 2022 Off Road. I like it. You have to pull down on two wire handles underneath it to unlatch it once it’s all the way on so if you lock your tailgate, the stuff under it is protected. They are only a few hundred dollars on Amazon.

I have have a tyger tri fold on my access cab long bed, 209$. Pretty good quality for the price point. and currently average 24-25 mpg with the 2.7 liter on the highway. Driving in windy conditions will effect any vehicle. For a reasonable price the tyger tri-fold is hard to beat, and literally can be removed in 10-15 minutes

No difference in MPGs, but many other benefits. Would buy my BakFlip again.
