I read the tonneau threads when researching to buy one. i read how some hated that they would have to widen their bed drain holes to fit the the huge tubes that come with the tonneau. well as i was widening one of my drain holes i realized that home depot sells hose adapters. i went to home depot and found hose barb adapters. i bought one 1/4inch to fit the factory size drain hole and one 3/8inch for the drain hole i widen.

Also on another note, regarding the hose clamp mod for the tailgate: i read that even though its a great mod some were still worried someone could just use a screwdriver to take it off...so some were thinking of either putting a weld over the slot or shaving off the slot so you could use a screwdriver. Well Prestone makes these hose clamps that use a plastic triangle key that is removable. so once you tighten and remove the key there is no slot to use a screw driver.

Just thought this might help some people out there.:D

Well if they are smart enough to carry a screwdriver. I'm sure that they would also have a pair of pliers and can spin that clamp right off.

Point is, if they want it, they will get it no matter what we do.

BTW, I don't have a tonneau as yet, why is this necessary, the drain kits?

The hose clamp mod is worth it...Because if you make it harder for them- They might not get yours!!

Drain kits depend on the type of tonneau- a hard roll up type cover has a box where the cover can go and that can fill with water if not drained. A soft roll up type cover or folding cover prolly won't need a drain kit. And I'm not sure about hard tonneaus...but i don't think they'd need one.

Ah, my last Taco had the EZ Tilt so I never had to worry about that.

Looking to get one for the 08 now.

    Hi all,
First time poster, new to toyota.

Found this thread in response to tailgate security searches. Anybody tried one of these Gate Keepers instead of the hose clamp? I had my atv ramp stolen last weekend, and it looks like they almost got my tailgate too, must have gotten scared off. My hose clamp was uncoupled and half way off the hinge. Gotta try something else. http://www.jimmijammer.com/Product, GK.htm
They don't have any prices shown, but was wondering if anyone has tried it. Thanks in advance.
