I have an Ultra Flex hard trifold. Sits flush on the bed. Install was simple, carpet like backing keeps inside of bed relatively cool. The main reason I got it was I found it on Craigslist for $125, retails for around $1,100.
    Very happy with it. DSC_4309.jpg

Proven Ground hard tri-fold cover. Inexpensive (relatively) took about 20 minutes to install and weather secure.

Lol, everyone always loves the cover they paid for (go figure!). :)

My truck came with the OEM cover and it's a fucking beast! But if I were to ever replace it, I would probably go with the diamond back cover as it does look pretty bad ass.

OP says "probably trifold" then says "preferably soft" two different animals. personally the last 3 trucks have had the Truxedo Lo pro on them. easy install, easy roll up, easy to completely remove. good luck in your decision. Ski

I guess I did it right when I installed mine in December of 2020. No leaks other than the occasional moisture by the tailgate. Wasn't worried about sealing that up.

I assumed he meant a soft top aluminum framed tri-fold as opposed to a roll up. Looks just like the one I posted above only no aluminum sheets under the vinyl.

This is the tonneau cover I want to save money to buy.

Not knocking the others...this one just meets my requirements.

I have the Undercover Armor Flex. It's a great cover. I chose it because it folds all the way up to the back window and is secured on both sides by steel arms that snap into place. Other covers lay against the back of the cab. It also has a LineX coating on top.

My truck is being built in the next week or two and I'm leaning toward the WeatherTech AlloyCover which is a Hard Tri-Fold design.

    Another vote for Bakflip MX4.

Very small amount of water leak during normal rain or car wash. The only time I have ever had any bad water leak was this past spring when I was travelling and encountered a SEVERE thundertorm. There was high wind and it dumped a LOT of water in a short amount of time. The truck was parked in a hotel parking lot. I had a piece of luggage in the back but had it in a large trash bag out of habit. (If you have ever had a car top carrier you know what I am talking about. Nothing is waterproof.) Everything else back there was okay to get wet. I still don't understand how it leaked that much. Hasn't happened since.

If you can decide on the Bakflip and can wait a while, I bought mine on Black Friday 2020. Bakflip was having a sale as do a lot of businesses on Black Friday. I logged onto their website and had a chat with the rep. He ended up offering me a lower than sale price and I bought it. I paid around $800 for it delivered. It is easy to install and I did it alone in about an hour.

Any decent cheap (~$200) covers I can buy to keep rain/dust out until I can afford dumping my paycheck into a quality cover?

I have the Ultraflex flush mount one, its like twins with the bakflip. Works well, only time it did leak was when we had heavy torrential downpour and everything/where flooded. Bought it from someone on here actually and was a year or so old. Nice if you need to carry something briefly with the trifold and it can be removed in about a minute.

Look for a lightly used hard version. Its worth it.

I had the exact same cover. My only gripe with it was the rails cover the bed tslot rails so they become unusable. I added some D ring to fix that problem and it worked well.

I sold the Undercover though and went with a Pace Edwards Ultragroove. It's a roll up style with t-slots on top, so I lose a bit of bed space but I have a Yakima bed rack on top of the cover now. Pricey but it was the best setup for my needs.

I actually had an oem cover before switching to my lomax. Was not impressed with it, the hinge end caps were busting off, the rubber hinge seals were cracking/peeling and a crack developed in the forward most panel. Also it seemed very heavy compared to the lomax. The winter seems very hard on the plastic, if it was to cold I could on open or close it as that would make the hinge caps shoot off. Didn't dare try to remove or install it if it was cold out.

I personally have the leer hf650m. Some things I like about it is the no cab contact when folded up, because there’s four panels it also sit a little lower than the roof exposing the third brake light still. Also no drain tube to mess with which mean no drilling to the composite bed.

I was pretty happy with the Tyger 3 section soft trifold sold by Amazon. Kept bed drier than I was expecting and felt reasonably well made, considering the price. Not sure on long term durability, especially the locking handles but was fine for 9 months.

    Recently upgraded to MX4.
