The $150 rebate was a promotion that was open to all retail customers provided you purchased within the rebate dates... I obviously cannot control when manufacturer rebates are offered...

On stock and pricing... RealTruck is literally owned by Truck Hero who also owns BAK... so of course they have the inside track on pricing and stock. They can force us to order items claiming "no stock" and month long build times while literally maintaining their own stock to fill orders for their own retail sales... If you look back years ago you will see who first offered discounts on these covers to forum members... hint, it wasn't them.

I get it... nobody cares these days about the ethics, only the price. So, I'm sorry if you feel you weren't treated fairly but we always offer the best prices and service we can for being the little guy fighting to hang on against large corps that would like to see guys like us gone so they can just charge retail and you won't have a choice who to buy from.

I’m another vote for the Bakflip MX4. I had one on my Tacoma until I got my ARE shell, and I had the predecessor of the MX4 (G2 or something?) on my Ram. Absolutely amazing covers and they last for years and years.

If I could I would... we always aim to be the best deal. On BAK covers I clear about $50 after product and freight cost. So there is literally no way I can touch pricing from someone who is essentially the manufacturer themselves. They literally control the price we can purchase the cover for through unilateral pricing and then their retail outlets sell at about what we buy for.

The more I check out that MX4, the more I want to take the plunge.
My Access Vanish soft rollup was great on my Rams, not on the Tacoma. Leaks terribly in all 4 corners. Huge pools in bed. Very disappointed.
Might not be too late to exchange it.

With Access Cover I recommend staying with the Lorado and Original Rollup. Seals on the economy models like the Vanish and TonnoSport are sacrificed for price.

They also make the Lomax line of hard covers so maybe talk to them about swapping? The Lomax's are great covers on the Tacoma.

I’m wondering if there are multiple OEM covers… I got one without looking for it (~$700 on the invoice), it’s a vinyl ish top on aluminum frame with really awkward hardware that’s a PITA to use and remove. I just want something that fits a 5’ bed, opens and removes easily, is strong and reasonably secure, and let’s me keep a tailgate pad on the truck so I can use the full bed and load mountain bikes regularly. The OEM one I have only opens 2/3 so I can’t load bikes without removing a bunch of cheesy/awkward hardware and wasting 10 minutes. I want a cover but there has to be a better option, and seemingly way too many options to tell what’s good. Hit me with whatever you think is best!

Good question? I don't think it gets excessively hot under the Diamondback being that the bed is not 100% sealed (mostly due to gaps around the tailgate). I suspect that the interior of the cab gets hotter on a summer day.

RetraxPro XR. Has t-slots to mount frontrunner rack system. Yakima also makes a system that uses the t-slots in the tonneau rails. It locks, and it rolls, so I can open it while the rack is completely loaded. Don't have a pic of the rack system on it, but I am very happy w it. Only reason I didn't opt for DB was because of the use while loaded thing.

I have the Lomax hard trifold now for two years and really like it. It's light, strong and easy to remove for me by myself if I need the entire bed. The way it's got the low profile look is attractive. I did add some extra weather stripping to make it more water tight but still get a tiny bit in at the corners. Fortunately the drain holes are there also and my bed mat keeps things up and dry.
I use my truck for camping trips. I usually pack my food, clothes and bedding in the bed and have all the gear that don't need washed every trip packed in my pop-up camper ready to hitch up and go. I've driven through heavy rain and got to the destination with out soaked stuff.
At the time I paid about $675 for my cover from @GotExhaust prices have likely changed since.

Hows the weather/ dust proofing on this thing? I love the way this functions and looks. Dont like that you lose a bit of usable room for larger objects when its open and retracted to the cab (if that makes sense).

Tbh I've been lazy and haven't done any weatherproofing of the bed. I have the vast majority of my gear in totes that are pretty much water tight. My main motivation, at the moment for this one was that it locks, and that it can open when it's carrying a load. You do lose a little of the top rear of the bed, but I've been looking at water jugs that will fit underneath it, so it won't be entirely wasted space.

That being said, when it rains, I do get some intrusion, but it isn't horrible. Once I seal the bed up though, I'll be keeping an eye on those very things

I can tell you the stock tacoma tonneau cover gets a lot hotter underneath in the bed than inside the cab with the sun here. You could just smell that rubber mat frying in there when you pop the tail gate.

I’ve had the Lomax for 2 years. Pros- looks great. Might be the lowest profile option available. Very clean looking. If it isn’t 100% waterproof then it’s very close. Only con for me - it only opens 2/3 of the way but as Taco Mike said it’s pretty easy to remove the whole thing
