I just found out my TRD Sport was built earlier this week and the build sheet is indicating it was built with "Tonneau-Cover" (no specifics on whether it is a roller, a tri-fold, or something else). I never asked for the tonneau-cover as I have been planning on going the aftermarket route, specifically the Lomax Hard Tri-Fold; I suppose if I don't like the OEM cover I can always take it off and sell it. Does anybody here have a factory tonneau-cover? If so, can you post a few pictures of it along with any comments you may have on it?

You might want to reconsider and take a look at the Armorflex and Ultraflex from Undercover. They're hard tri fold designs as well, but when full open, they don't rest against the cab like the ones from Bak do.

check out tonneau factory outlet . com I got my bakflip mx4 from there. They deal directly with the manufacturer. You need to call as they don't advertise the pricing. I got mine for 879 + tax with free shipping.

I was worried about the BAK resting against the cab. But I still took the plunge and when I installed the padding, it rests on the window edging more than the paint itself.

No pics handy, but I have the OEM trifold cover and it's a fucking beast! Super heavy duty, you could probably stand on it and not hurt it. Removes easily by taking out a single security bolt but it is a bit on the heavy side. I remove mine all the time when I need the full bed and it's definitely doable with one person.

I will say that if you are looking for a light weight / low profile cover then the OEM tonneau is probably not for you.

Thanks, weight isn't really a concern of mine, however, I do like the low profile look of the Lomax.

Gator ETX Soft Tri-Fold Truck Bed Tonneau Cover (59409). Bought from Amazon for $228, had for over a year and still working great. Great bang for the buck imo.

They make a version of the Lomax that opens all the way, folding up to the rear window of the cab (providing 100% bed access). @truckalter sells it

I disagree that the Lomax is the lowest profile option. But great cover. No regrets in my purchase, other than not having camper shell level room.

Lomax cover is great bang for the buck. Great price through truckalter, provides more security than a soft cover, easier to remove than Diamondback, not bulky like a camper shell.

Lomax tonneau cover, oem bed lights, AJT Design chrome delete, black out badges & tailgate letters, AVS hood deflector & vent visors, Solkie tech hood supports, interior LED lights, Tufskinz mud guards, RedArc TowPro Liberty, bed mat, kicker speaker upgrade, Hikari ultra H11 low beams, Diode Dynamics SS3 fogs in yellow, Meso customs total taillight stage 1. Coming soon: Compact powered sub install Future mods planned: bigger tires (265/75/16) BILLSTIEN 5100 lift
Lomax isn't the lowest profile but probably the lowest profile you can get with out loosing use of the bed rails or relocating them.
I really like mine. I kinda wish I would have got the stance Model but it wasn't quite available when I bought mine. Still I feel like for the $675 I paid for the 2 years ago it was worth it. Quite a deal for what you get. It's light enough to remove on your own if you have average strength, of course with help it's super easy to handle as well. I just got a $25 bungee cord cargo cover for when I needed to pile up stuff in the whole bed with out the cover , good to go

Had some issues with the Revolver X4s install today, wanted to see if anyone else has seen these issues:

    1. One of the slats on the cover is not interlocked (the rubber grips were pinched in between from the factory) so it doesn't lay flat on the rails and one of the sides won't lock. Have you seen this issue before and is it fixable? Do I need a new cover? I haven't started messing with it yet to see if it'll lock.

    2. One of the plastic end caps literally pops off when rolling and unrolling, it barely holds when still and looks like the clips are bent from shipping. Has anyone glued this successfully or should I just request a new one?

    3. One of the knobs used to tighten down on a bolt that secures the cover onto the rails is not threaded all of the way and literally stops halfway on the bolt. I'm afraid to push it any further and crossthread the bolt or knob itself and would make removing and reinstalling the cover difficult in the future. Wondering if I should just hit the hardware store for a new bolt/nut and skip the knob altogether.

Nothing major but kinda disappointed so far.

    UPDATE:

#1 resolved by laying it out on the floor and kneeling over it, jimmying the slats into the other to interlink them. Hard to explain but luckily possible to fix. Lots and lots of F bombs.

#2 These plastic end caps are just POS. Strange considering the entire cover is basically decent materials and then this crappy little plastic afterthought. I'm going to glue it.

#3 The knobs just need to be tightened past the point where the plastic at the end of the threads meet the bolt. So this appears to be a non-issue.

It doesn't actually rest against the back of the cab.

Anyone can tell pros and cons of aluminum vs hard plastic tonneau cover.

I'm not sure which to buy. I was thinking of getting an aluminum, but was told it would dent/damage easily. I was also told the plastic one gets super hot in sunny states.

I guess I would like some comparisons from anyone out there who's had both.

As a dealer for many of them we have had better results long term with aluminum. If you get a cover that has a urethane finish over the aluminum it provides a decent amount of scratch and micro dent resistance.

I went with the Extang Trifecta 2.0 signature series premium canvas cover. The canvas is heavy duty like my Boxster convertible top. My first cover was a vinyl Trifecta and lasted 10 years. Easy on and off plus the signature series has a lifetime warranty.

On my 05 sport I had xtang trifecta. Was parked on the street and some ass flicked a cigarette and it landed on cover and wedged itself under the buckle that locks cover down when folded. Burnt a large hole all the way thru cover. Now own a diamondback and am very happy.
