I've done some forum searching to see if this has been answered but can't find anything. I have a new 2017 DCOR with the factory tonneau cover. My intention was to store hiking/outdoor gear under the cover in rubbermaid containers so that I always have it accessible for those days when I need to get outside. But I am wondering about the blacks cover and the summer heat here in Utah.

Can anyone comment on the mid-day temperature in the parked truck bed, under a black tonneau cover? Would you worry about storing clothes/packs/rope/camera in there?

    Thanks, Scott

Anything with a battery or sensitive electronics I wouldn't store in the heat like that.

    Everything else should be fine.

I have a roll up cover any ideas on water proofing it.I only had a few wet spots in my bed after a rain. But I noticed lately I'm getting alot more.I keep my work bags in my bed and would like to keep them dry.

Grab a tube of silicone and have at it. Fill all the gaps you can find and the places you think water may be coming in. That is all you can do.

Or get rid of the roll up and buy a Undercover SE.

Guys have these on there trucks and report minimal if any water in there beds. Hey they make the "Classic" for your truck!! Sure wish they made the Classic for my 2016. (Link below) These are flat on the top and look great!

Or ditch the roll up and get a hard tonneau.

Can't imagine a roll up is that weatherproof to begin with.

Someone was/is selling a SnugTop hard tonneau in perfect shape for $200, so not much of a penalty in swapping.

A few OE parts from fancy trucks
Only a hard cover thats moulded over the sides or a cap will ever be water proof.

The only problem with a hard top.I can't put a four wheeler in my bed without taking it off. It's not a major problem that I would swap it out.I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas.I know it won't be 100% just want to minimize it as much as possible.
