I recently bought the undercover ultra flex for my 2010 Longbed. install went normally but once I finished I noticed there's like a 2-inch gap between the cover and my tailgate. I've done everything I can to lower it but it's as low as it goes. does anyone else have this problem with their tonneaus in general?

For the love of god yes!! I not 100% sure we have the same cover ill have to look when I get off work but I bought one for xmas and just got around to temp fitting it in two weeks ago and noticed the same thing.. I am SUPER pissed off.. I know its not a really expensive cover but I expected it to freaking fit.. 09 dclb..

I hope someone has found a work around I really don't want ot have to return it. I was going to look into seeing if they make an extension for the tailgate trim to maybe take some slack out of that gap but I doubt that exists

I've read about this issue before and I plan on making a part to solve that issue. If I knew the exact distance that's between the top of the tailgate and the cover I could get started on that project. I was planning on using black Acetol Delrin plastic, using two existing screws to mount it, and it would require drilling two holes into the tailgates plastic cover that sits on top of the tailgate. This is the existing screw I'd use.

Well that does it lol. I work tomorrow night and I’m off for five days. One of those I’ll throw my cover on and get some good photos and Measurements.

These are the only two I took when I lost my s#it after temp install.

Is this a Tri-fold? I had an issue with mine but I just drilled and moved the back clamps, further back. Thx

That is no good. One of the biggest points of having a tonneau is having the bed sealed up. I can figure out the exact measurement off of my truck now that I see exactly how your tonneau sits. I've seen pictures of other tonneau covers that sat in a different position, maybe that's why no one has created a solution for it yet, because different brands don't sit at the same spot? Either way I'm on the project and if it's not for you it'll be for someone else down the road. I've got to do quite a bit of running around today and one of the places I need to visit is Ridout Plastics in Kearny Mesa (San Diego) so I'll talk with them about the project and see what material they recommend. That's the best part of living in a huge metropolitan area is having access to damn near any type of business within a half hours drive. It's going to need to be strong to stop the common thief with common thief tools, resistant to extreme cold and heat, warping from heat isn't an option, resistant to the sun from deteriating it, and lightweight to keep the closing of the tailgate easy.

edit: In the bottom picture you posted you can see the existing screw I'd want to use to mount the new part.

If anyone has an inexpensive packaging solution for shipping purposes for a long skinny piece like that I'd love to hear about it.

dont have any pictures at the moment. Its frustrating because this prevents it from being waterproof and secured. Weird to see yall have the same issue.

I work at UPS and could keep an eye for one that someone is planning to toss. Do you have measurements?

Yes it is, ive tried to move it back and i cant go any further because the main clamps start to interfere with the drain system.

I was thinking more of a permanent solution to shipping a lot of them one at a time. I know they make cardboard shipping tubes but they look expensive, I have no idea if they are or not. Its somewhere around 4.5'x2"x2" just to give you an idea. Other than a tube, I don't know what's available.

A rubber solution wouldn't prevent theft at all but it would seal it from the weather. I just saw the other day a perfect rubber solution if that's what you're interested in. I'll go find it and come back and post here...

I have a tri-fold hard cover. The gap everyone is talking about is sealed up with the rubber piece.
At lease it is on mine.
