Just picked up a 2015 Tacoma, loving it so far. Took it camping over the weekend with a bednet to keep all my gear down.

Would like to pick up a tonneau or a canopy in the next few weeks as on the way down the service road, it was so dusty everything I had was caked on with an inch of dust when I got home.

Im not a huge fan of canopies had one on my old truck and it mad life difficult to crawl in and out of. Looking at maybe a softopper? or similar? Also like the look of some of the hard trifolds out there.

Anyone have any experience with either system and your preference and why?

    Thanks.

I went with a hard tri hold and here is why
    1. I don't like the look of a canopy
    2. I don't like how soft covers flap in the wind (some don't some do)
    3. I wanted something secure and lockable (some soft toppers do some don't)
    4. You could cut a soft cover
    5. you have the same issue getting to the back of the truck with a leer 1 piece top as a canopy
    6. you can stand on a hard tri fold
    Hard tri fold FTW

Yeah I have to admit I don't like the look of canopies. But I wanted to give them their fair shake.

Didn't even think of the flaps in the wind, I live in the city so I need to highway drive to get to where I am going so the flapping at highway speeds would drive me mad.

Forgot to mention, they now make a power retractable bed cover. Brother in law has one and it really makes me regret not knowing of it before I bought mine. It looks like it could break fairly easily however it is amazing! worth a google

    Thanks,

Yeah I have seen the power retractable covers. I am not a fan of the manual retractable covers so a power one is cool in theory but.... The canister for most of the retractable covers are like 12" and with the 6' bed and I use most of it I don't want to lose that much room for cover. I do have to admit I really like the ideas of the retractable covers they are just to expensive and yeah don't want to lose a foot of my bed length to a canister for my cover.

Sadly a tri fold for extended travel takes up 1/3 of your bed and even fully up takes up about 3-4 inches, you can however remove the whole thing in a matter of a 30 seconds, you can kinda see my tri fold cover in my build thread if your curious
