Oh i dig that man good work!I just got a new welder and would loVe to make a swing out onto my tg. Im thinkin single swing out though.... yours is very fancy! Did you sing the bearing pieces into those two extensions so you can weld around them 360*?

Ive always wondered where the hell do you guys that build all this badass shit get those bearing pieces and latches??

thanks man. it's been a bit of a headache but i tend to overthink everything. yes, they are welded 360 around a 1/4" sleeve and the spindle is only welded to the sleeve at the bottom so it doesn't mess with the integrity of the spindle itself. i'll post up some better pics and info once i'm finished. which with any luck should be pretty soon.

i have the dual shear spindle but i'm building it without for now just so i can get it finished but i ordered spindles and the latch from comp4x4.com and the tire mounting plate from ruffstuffspecialties.com

I am going to check out grainger on harmony hopefully this week to see what destaco latches they have on hand so I can look for something close to what I have in mind. Their website seems to show they have a ton of styles in stock.

mccarr.com sells the latches direct. Bit cheaper. Have many many style. Go to pull lever latches.

don't skimp on the latch either. 2000lb rated all the way.

Very cool information! Are making the spindles vertical from the earth or the bumper? How'd u position them with the bumper off?

i didn't have much luck with grainger honestly. and what they did carry needed to be ordered anyways...... for what its worth
^this. 2000lb latch or nothing. i have the safety catch on mine and it is what made it possible to mount mine how i did. i would recommend spending the little bit extra just in case you need to mount it a little funny
vertical from the bumper....ish. i used the two main tubes from the bumper itself as a reference angle (since they are not perfectly even vertically) and built the spindles off of that with a slight cant toward the truck. this way they won't come flying when i open the latch. i'm going to mount the main bumper on the truck and build up from there so the two frames line up with the tailgate and don't look funny.

Are the latch parts weldable? Or did you drill and tap the holes?

I weld them. Done it to three latches with no problems.

I'm sure you could weld them. I bolted mine...... If it doesn't hold how I like..... I'll weld it

    wheels and tires are on.

had an issue balancing 2 of the wheels that had a visible "hop" in them at the rim and center bore.

they stick out just a wee bit further now

thanks man. may go back in tomorrow to possibly switch out the bad rim with the one on my spare though. i can feel the vibration in my seat pretty good at about 30mph. (bad wheel is mounted driver-rear)

I would call up wheelers and see if they would fix it? That's a crappy situation and I wouldn't even want it on my spare.
