I have 1200 ish miles on my truck. I paid for lifetime oil changes through dealership which pays for itself after 2 yrs. anyways I can get 4 a year at any time I wish. I want to get my money's worth and thinking about getting one this year which will be included. Any harm in changing a fully synthetic 0w 20 at 1200 in a new truck? I figured the newer the oil the better...thoughts?

I got 2500 miles on mine and I'm picking up a oil filter tonight from the dealership and changing it tomorrow with 0w-20 Penzoil Fully Synthetic!!! Bought 25 quarts at walmart last night for $22.86 for 5 quart jug!!! Basically breaks down to do 4 oil changes with 4 filters at $33 a oil change!

It don't hurt to change it early!!!!

I'm pretty sure if you don't have changes at the dealership they charge around $70 for 6 quarts of synthetic and a filter which is insane!!!!

It can't hurt anything so go ahead and do it. If you don't you basically lose it for this year and you have (kind of) paid for it.

I don't see how that's lame. Just means I was able to get one early on this calendar year and have 4 more next year. I don't mind having certified Toyota techs do my oil changes.

I've heard of enough stories from people with tech's screwing up oil changes or cross threading drain plugs that I'm good and will change my oil myself that way i know its done right! It's worth the extra couple bucks out of my pocket to me!

Yea and I would do it myself but I don't have a great place to do it. Plus in a couple years I'll be getting free oil changes at the dealership. But thanks for the info I feel good about getting it done early now!

Your welcome man, but you really don't need much. You don't even need the jack it up to do the oil. All you need is a wrench and a funnel and that's it!
