So I was scrolling through offer up and I came across this TRD supercharger :anonymous:. The seller is only asking 2000$!!!. I am very tempted to buy this off him but I would like to see what you guys think. What all would I need to complete the install? Also is there anything to check for on or around the supercharger to insure it is in good shape.

I would do it... but then again... my Tacoma was an impulse buy...

I think I'm going to... but is there anything that wears out on these? Anything to look for if it's bad (like shaft play on a turbo).

What I figure is; if it moves, it wears out. The question I would ask is "how much was it used?" if it was only on the truck for a few thousand miles it's probably fine. If it was 100,000 miles... I'd look into some kind of rebuild kit or something... still seems like a pretty good deal.

I will look into rebuild kit. Haven't heard back from the seller hopefully I can get some answers on the mileage and go look at it tomorrow. Where can I find parts for this? Also don't I need a 7th injector and some other stuff before install?

Better buy it before someone else on here does now that you've made it public worldwide, lol.

Seriously though, it does look like a great deal but I bet it's got some miles on it at that price. Even with a rebuild though its still a good deal

7Th injector was more of a necessity for the 3.4l 1st gen trucks/superchargers. With the 2nd gen Tacomas its really only needed if you upgrade to a smaller pulley.

What size would the smaller pulley be?

2.85 - 2.87 I think, I don't have a 2nd gen Tacoma but from I've read on here that's when you want to look into the 7th injector kit.

From where I sit it does look like it has the 2.85 pulley and I didnt need a 7th injector when I had mine installed.

Just what I gathered from following the 4.0l supercharger group buy thread but if it's anything like the 3.4l motors were, its entirely dependant on each individual truck. Some perform better with it some have no need.

Actually, the only 4.0 I have driven is the one I now own and it was supercharged when I got it so I cant really say if its any more power then anyone elses so yah, could be no difference at all, I did have the 2.85 pulley installed and I did notice a huge difference there.

Did he say why? Was it just set aside and forgotten about? I mean, that's not necessarily a bad thing assuming that's the case
