I'd definitely go with the 04, if it's a solid truck.

Here are some pictures of damage/flaws on the '04. Are they significant?

Hood paint peeling (I can probably get this handled cheaply)

The paint is the only thing that sucks but it's bound to happen at some point. My clearcoat is peeling on my roof too. The seat can get another cover from a junkyard, and the bumper is hardly noticeable.

That's a huge gap between the fender and hood though, so it might've gotten into a fender bender and they didn't align it back up right. Make sure nothing else in the front is jacked up.

I think they just have the hood unlatched in that picture. From the other pictures, it doesn't appear to be that "gappy"?

One of the first things one should look for when buying a used car are misaligned gaps indicating repair work was done and body damage was sustained. It is sometimes difficult to get it factory-perfect, although a really good body shop can usually. As @DustStorm4x4 pointed out, that gap doesn't look right unless the hood is not latched. Double check. A friend of mine bought a second gen that looked mint, only to discover tons of non-oem aftermarket parts that were installed from a prior crash. The repair was done professionally though so there were no apparent misaligned gaps or other obvious signs of body work done.

Thank you. My plan is to have a mechanic -with all proper tools present- to inspect it on site.
