I found a local Line X dealer, that's listed on Fluid Film's website as an authorized application facility. I just got back from there, and HOLY FUCK does that shit stink. They said the smell will go away in a couple of days. I sure hope so. It's not a solvent based smell, more biological (it's lanolin based (made from sheep's wool)). Fucking disgusting.

This that and the other thing.
you should try Krown T40 instead of WD, its more of a rust inhibitor then just a water dispersant.

I would clean the heck out of the underside, there's no downside since you're not washing off any Fluid Film. If it gets clean and dries, then coat it. FWIW, I spray at least once a year and sometimes twice if we get some nice weather, which we typically do in February. On my old truck I would be religious about washing the underside but I didn't start Fluid Film on it until late in its life.

With the new truck I actually don't wash the underside as often or vigorously to avoid washing too much of the film off. I don't really give much of a crap about making it pristine and just spray over dirt if I have to. After a while you'll end up with a semi-viscous goo on everything.

Yep, under washing throughout the winter is key.

No worries man, you did good. WAYYYY better than starting a new thread as most tend to do now. I applaud your effort and non instant gratification searching instead! TW gold star for you.

    From the FF website:
FLUID FILM is formulated from specially processed wool-wax, highly refined petroleum oils and selected agents to provide corrosion control, penetration, metal wetting and water displacement. These long lasting products contain no solvents, will not dry out and will penetrate to the base of all metals, providing corrosion protection from both natural and industrial atmospheres. Heavily corroded and/or frozen parts such as nuts, bolts, shafts, etc. that would normally be damaged during maintenance, can be salvaged by applying FLUID FILM.

3 cans will do. I bought the 6 can pack and got a free 2 ft hose with spray tip that goes into the boxed in part of the frame and it really works well.
