    But do people really buy tailgates that often? I feel like it’s an odd thing to steal and try and sell.

    Well, if it gets stolen I'm sure the person would look to buy a used one rather than pay their deductible or the price of a new one.

    I wonder how many people have actually bought their tailgate back without even knowing.

    Someone stealing your tailgate, Yea it's the world we live
    Put a hose clamp on it, or buy a lock, keep the tailgate locked.
    Park your truck in your garage, put a fence around your property with a locked gate.
    If you don't take these precautions than don't wine when your tailgate gets ripped off.

    yeah happened 2 blocks away a couple of weeks ago...yeah socal...
    by stealing them they are creating the market
    i quickly did the hose clamp thing, but they gotta be on to that...
    what's the best longer term mod/solution?
