just purchased a 2000 tacoma 4x4 and it came with an OME heavy duty lift kit with 8100 coilovers along with 33x10.5x R15 bf goodridge tires. i just replaced the front cv axles as the boots were blown and took it in for an alignment and was told that i have too much positive camber. They suggested either to lower the suspension or to get a crossmember lift. The truck was previously owned by an offroad enthusiast and i dont have much history other than that.. any thoughts on what i should do and what might be causing this over amount of positive camber. thanks in advance!

Are those OEM upper control arms? If so, you just need new aftermarket ones. They have a different geometry to allow for a proper alignment in lifted applications. There are lots of brands out there, and pretty much all of them will correct for the alignment issue. You don't need the more expensive uni-ball style (total chaos, camburg, all-pro, etc...), so if you're on more of a budget, light racing and SPC (?) I think are a few that will work.

bracket (crossmember) lifts are overkill, and unnecessary.

Find another alignment shop. One that is willing to do more than just a Toe & Go.

The info/feedback they gave you is questionable. I really doubt there is anything wrong with the lift you have. The most likely problem is that the cam adjusters on the lower control arm-frame mount are frozen and are limiting (or making impossible) camber adjustment. An aftermarket upper control arm will not fix this.

A competent shop will tell you exactly what is wrong and give you a spec sheet to back it up.

Lol yeah crossmember lift. Great advice when you already got a quality lift on there. If the UCA is aftermarket they should be able to get you within spec. Go in there with specific range of numbers you want. Camber 0 and caster 2.4 is pretty ideal IIRC

If you have upper control arms you should easily be able to get awesome numbers, go somewhere elsebto get an alignment.

I wonder then if your cam bolts are seized and the shop is just too stupid or incompetent to tell you.

You know what brand it is?

Well now i think on top of that I’m dealing with a bad ball joint after taking it out and testing it out on a trail. After disengaging 4x4 and driving home I started hearing a popping sound when I turn which after researching could be my ball joints not sure. Given the area I live there’s no quality mechanic who specializes in what I’m dealing with other than a Toyota dealership

Agreed. That's what it looks like to me as well. If they are SPC arms, those have quite a bit of adjustablility in them for Caster and to a lesser extent, camber too.

Obviously, the shop the OP went to seriously lacks in experience with these quality components.

    you're right, http://www.spcalignment.com/component/spc/?task=part_description&pid=25470

the part number i found on it matches 25470 which is for 2005- and up.. and is definitely what i have. interesting.. so after more inspection looks like my lower ball joints are going. saw some build up on them.

if that's for a 2005+ you have the wrong UCAs, the original owner got the wrong part (or was sold the wrong part)
