    Yo

Just took delivery of my 2022 OR and I had a couple of questions.

I am planning to sell the wheels and tires since they're basically new. Has anyone gone with 17inch wheels like the 4runner pro wheels with falken wildpeaks and noticed any significant change in ride quality?

I noticed that the left plastic handle on my steering wheel can be pushed in and squeaks a little when doing so, almost like it hasn't been glued properly or its missing some backing insulation or something. The right side one doesn't do it at all. Is this normal on the Taco?

The gas mileage is awful, like really really awful. I'm getting average 16mpg while barely touching the throttle and driving only highway miles. I knew it was bad before I bought it but I don't get how some of you are getting 25+ mpg. What am i doing wrong? it's on cruise control 99% of the time at 55mph. Is it just a "breaking in" thing?

Also, does anyone know where I can get the Black stealth running boards? I can't seem to find them anymore. They all seem to be out of stock. I'm talking about these ones

You will be fine with 17” 4Runner Pro wheels, just stick with 265/70r17 in size. My 2021 TRDOR has the squeaky steering wheel plastic, so does my friends. Get an OV base tune 2.0. I’m getting 20mpg and the truck is more fun to drive without making it crazy.

    2022 !! ......... DUDE ...........

You'll look good in that thing how can you go wrong - ~~

You'll probably see gas mileage improve a bit after 2000~3000 miles of good clean break-in.

    Welcome!

Nice looking TRD-OR. Wow, you are experiencing lots of Gremlins in your vehicle.

I've had my TRD Sport since May 14, 2021 and am NOT experiencing any of the anomalies you mentioned.

How are you concluding 16mph...from the system telling you? (I've browsed thru the menu on the dashboard but have not seen that low number)

Let us know how quickly you sell those 16" wheels/tires. My Sport came with 17" wheels/tires. I can't give advice on what will work for you but you can use the tire calculator for assistance.

Yea the Auto transmission is diabolical. It literally downshifts and upshifts on cruise control with no change in pitch for no apparent reason. Even putting it in sport and trying to keep it in a specific gear is useless as it readjusts back after a while

Thanks! I think im going to put them on ebay and just sell them for whatever I get. Any idea what they're worth? Pricing out 4 new falkens is coming out to $1100 installed (go inflation!) and the wheels will be another $800 or so, so every little helps for whatever I can get for the stock wheels and tires

Re: mileage, yep it's from the onboard computer. I drove the truck from michigan down to north carolina so ive put about 650 miles on it and that's what the computer is telling me. I've filled her up twice plus the full tank it came with so its definitely guzzling gas.

I averaged 16mpg for the first 1,500 miles or so. Getting closer to 18-20mpg as I approach 2,000 miles. And that's without babying it as much after break in, running larger A/T tires, and removing the air dam.

I have no idea what a set of (4) brand new Wheels/Tires go for...I'd research eBay and see what the buying prices are...I would imagine roughly $200 per wheel/tire...$800 total would get you the wheels. $150 each would have you lose $200 and drop you to $600.

I'm waiting to buy my new wheels/tires for at least a couple of years or as close to 60K miles before upgrade. I'm gonna get usage out of these tires and save up for the LIFT and upgrade of wheels/tires in the meantime.

Look into the kd max tune. It will help with spastic shifting.

Your miles per gallon and shifty transmission will improve with time. Mine became noticeably better after driving 5,000 miles.

Thanks for the replies guys, really appreciate it and good to know the MPG should improve with time.

There's only two modifications I want to do to the truck as I like it the way it is. The first is putting the stealth side boards I can't seem to find anymore (link in first post) and a TRD pro grill. Any suggestions where to find these?

I think I need a pro grill with the TSS garnish as I have adaptive cruise control. Any suggestions for where to get the grill and garnish? I have seen multiple posts about crap replicas and no idea where to get a good one.

I'm guessing that's your problem. I'm surprised no one has mentioned it...how many miles are on the truck? I would atleast wait until after break in before using cruise control.

●For the first 200 miles (300 km): Avoid sudden stops. ●For the first 500 miles (800 km): Do not tow a trailer. ●For the first1000 miles (1600 km): • Do not drive at extremely high speeds. • Avoid sudden acceleration. • Do not drive continuously in low gears. Do not drive at a constant speed for extended periods.

I agree, although I'm pretty certain him driving on cruise control 99% of the time on a brand new truck is the reason he was getting lower than advertised mpg.

I sold mine with a few thousand miles on them for $700. I'd imagine you could get $800 if your willing to sit on them and wait.
