I can easily get 24.75 mpg with my manual in the summer if going no more than 60. I’m running C load 31.6” ATs at 37 psi and have the OEM roof rack.

Yep, because the engine keeps on running rich trying to get to operating temps. I also noticed this is the only vehicle that I’ve ever had that takes forever to warm up. Not sure what’s the deal.

Well, like me you are coming into this from a car that actually went somewhere when you pressed the pedal on the right. Those Golf R's are a blast, almost picked one up a few times but never pulled the trigger. The Tacoma's power seems to come on around 3500rpm and you really have to be in it with your foot, but it is there. You get used to it, and in time appreciate the truck for all of its great attributes. We spend way more time in the truck than the others and while they are nice to have and enjoy, honestly I think the Tacoma is a favorite, there's just something about it.

Just remember you're not in the Golf R when you approach turns and you'll be A-ok :)

    Great looking truck, congrats!

I've had my OR since May and I get a very consistent 19-20mpg TANK AVERAGE* on a gentle, 40-mile round trip commute that keeps me off the highway (gently undulating rural 2 lane road with a 40 mph average speed). I notice MPG's go down considerably at highway speeds, these are brick-shaped after all. ;)

I am all stock and I keep the stock tires inflated a bit higher than the door jam recommends, I think that helps. Now that cold weather is here and I'm running the defroster more (which cycles the AC compressor on and off whether you want it to or not) I've seen a slight decrease in overall MPG.

*Per tank average is the only MPG measure that makes any sense to me. We can all manage a short stretch of crazy high temporary MPG with just the right conditions, it doesn't really mean much if it's not repeatable. /opinion

I'll be damned, after a week of running the truck in the city my average MPG is now 20.9

This makes no sense to me how start/stop can be resulting in higher mpg than highway cruising but looks like you guys were right. How bizarre.

I am 2500 miles in on my 22 TRD OR and not understanding this mileage people are getting. I am averaging 14-15mpg on the highway... Granted I have the TRD lift with the pro wheels and KO2's but still really bummed out to be getting awful mpg

Sweet! Just like mine except mine is 2021.

The 4Runner wheel will do just fine. But good luck selling the stock wheels. The stock wheels are beautiful but most people rather buy an aftermarket 17 inch wheels than the 16. I personally don't really care about wheels as long as it’s not big sized wheels. I’m usually fine with stock wheels. I like 15 or 16 inch wheels. I like more tire walls.

I think I noticed that squeaky plastic thing on mine too but it doesn’t really bother me at all.

On the gas mileage, who’s getting 25+ mph on a Tacoma? How? I get 18 mpg since it’s brand new and all city drive. Must be tune up and other stuffs have been done to get to 25 + mpg.

    ET has something similar https://www.extremeterrain.com/redr...eNa_EfG7L8zst5D75vRoCNtwQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

“ there’s only two modification I want to do….” That’s what I said..Haha. Let’s talk in a couple of years and your Taco would look nothing like the above pic.
I got my Pro Grill from ProooAuto. It’s a small business and they have different color grills with cheaper prices. I got the grill with TSS sensor with raptor lights for $168. The $300 price you see on other sites is a rip off. The product is pretty much the same. I had mine for a year now, no problem at all. Everything is plastic and made in china. So, pretty much the same.

It eventually drove me insane. Twice. First time was my new 2nd Gen back in '08, second time was 10 years later (to the month) on my new 2019 3rd Gen (thought maybe the truck was improved). Sold both within 24 months. Might check out the new Tundra, gets better mileage than the Tacoma and can do twice the work.

I think you answered your own question. It isn't unheard of for lifted Tacos with big tires to get 12-13. I get 18.6 MPG tank avg with a canopy and BedSlide.

For the grille, I got mine from the TacoVinyl shop on Etsy. Looks like it's no longer up though.

Is it true that you need to adjust the sensor if you're putting the pro grill on an off-road? First time I'm seeing/hearing that. I thought you just buy a Pro grill, buy the TSS and plop both on and you're good to go, but if I need to tinker with the sensor positioning or something then it's probably not worth it.

I have 21 OR. No adjustments needed at all. The sensor on the factory OR grill is behind the middle of the Toyota logo. The sensor on the pro grill is located at the bottom of the grill. You just need to remove the sensor from your OR grill and simply screw it on the pro grill. It’s not really adjustment, it’s just moving it from one grill to another. The whole installation takes 20 to 25 minutes.
