Tried in snow a few times and they not great. Glad I kept my 285/70-17 Hakka r2 SUV’s cause they huge improvement.

to be fair my old Toyo AT’s weren’t great either but was expecting more.

AT tires suck in just about everything outside of dirt n rock. Big Lugs, not much siping lends to shitty traction in dry, wet, icy roads. Not to mention loud, heavy and higher rolling resistance.

I just put on General Grabbers for winter. They got good reviews on Consumer Reports. I tried looking around Tacomaworld, but every time there was a winter tire that someone loved, there were 5 people knocking them lol. I'll let you know what I think of them in April.

For what its worth, there are two flavors of BFG KO2. One is winter rated the other is not

LT's get the snowflake due to deeper initial tread depth. Doesnt do shit for the lack of siping and big tread blocks which make wet / icy grip suffer.

From what I recall yes. Cant find the document right off, but it should be out there somewhere.

I believe that is the reason for multiple BFG P/Ns in the same size and different mileage warranties. Again, working off memory here

Both my new KO2’s and old Toyo AT’s had the Snowflake. Obviously they set the bar very low because putting on a real Winter like the Hakka r2 SUV’s is like night and day difference.

A/T's are all terrain tires they are designed to be ok at everything but not great at anything. If you want a tire that is good at a certain terrain then you have to get a tire that is specfic for that terrain. Try a set of winter tires in the snow. Is like driving on dry pavement night and day.

Starting to think the GY Wrangler Adventure Kevlars would have been better for my spring summer fall use. Experienced some hydroplaning on wet pavement

KO2s are completely silent on the hwy.

Edit: forgot to add. I also get advertised or better mpgs with my C Load 265/70/17.

Absolutely no issues in the wet or in the snow, awesome tires. LT C load 265/70/17.

I think there is a reason why its the most popular AT tire.

How many miles on them? And have you ever tried any NON AT tire, something like a Micheline defender ltx m/s on your truck in the wet and snow. If you have id bet you would be surprised at the increase in grip.

My current ones only have like 3k. The E loads had about 18k. 2 of my buddies wore out their KO, and KO2s and they were still silent.

No question tire like michelin defender ltx will be a bit better in wet, the siping on that tire is incredible. Not sure about the snow though. It doesnt have the snowflake symbol so i would think the compound would get pretty hard, i could be wrong though because i never owned them. The KO2s are still very soft at low temps. But of course, nothing is good as a dedicated winter tire.

I had the stock SL goodyear wrangler RT/S (i believe) on my 07 ranger and they were garbage.

Had LT E toyo at2, IMO great in the snow. But the best tire in the snow i had was 265/75/16 duratracs, absolutely amazing. They sucked in the rain though and were noisy.

My next set will probably be KO2 again, its good at everything, just not the best at everything.
