Good morning all. I have toolboxes at my house and shed however I would like all those tools to remain at home. I’ve been searching for a roll to fit behind drivers rear passenger seat that includes good tools for the Tacoma. Does such a bag exist or am I going to have to build my own? If I do I’m probably going with ATC bag but would really like one that’s loaded up. Any guidance is appreciated thank you.

A 10mm socket does not require a roll. You can disassemble the truck with a 10mm....

I have the ATC bag (and I like it) and you can Google a list of tools for the 2nd gen that someone assembled. Should be close enough to the 3rd gen to handle a lot of the repairs.

That, a hammer, adjustable wrench, duct tape, zip ties. If you can't get home with that then the chances of you having the right tool or part are slim.

Find the roll up tool bag of choice and load it at your local pawn shop.

I just use a small tupperware style container that fits in the underseat bin. Keeps sockets and such much easier than a roll up.

You’ll probably gonna need to build your own. I wouldn’t want to buy an already loaded tool bag. I need to choose my own tools because I want specific sizes and types of tools. You’re probably better off asking what tools do people carry, so you can decide what are the most important things for you to put in there. I just use a regular Husky tool bag from Home Depot, but for me its:

3/8” drive socket sets up to 21mm (deep and shorties)
    Med ratchet and extensions
    18” breaker bar
    Small & large crescent wrenches
    med channel locks
    Small/med/large Philips & flahead screwdrivers
small & large pliers and needle nose
    90* needle nose
    Vice grips
    Small needle nose vice grips
    Wire cutters
    Hose tool/pick
    Med. hammer
Some spare fuses, hose clamps, rags, duct tape
    OBD II code reader
    NOCO jumper pack

Yeah. I reckon the duct tape, 550 cord, zip ties, bailing wire and ratchet straps are going to be more useful in general than a tool roll.

Most regular people, even weekend warrior off-roaders don’t carry spare parts and fluids to do a fix. So, that leaves doing a patch and limping out

    Well, almost! :)

I put together a tool roll with the basics as it's not just about working on the Taco in the field. I was at a friend's cabin recently picking up a John Deere Gator I bought from him and we needed a few sets of pliers to get a stubbern clevis pin removed from the trailer. I broke out my tool roll and took care of it.

You will rarely need to use your well thought out tool roll in your truck. But when you do you will be glad you have it.
