Never thought I'd do it, but last weekend I traded my 2013 XSP-X for a 2019 TRD Pro in Voodoo Blue. It was a bittersweet day as I loved that pickup. However, I'm already greatly enjoying the better ride and more features.

I was curious about any quality of life upgrades people have done to third gens? I'm already looking at remote starts (should be standard by now...), is there a preferred system? I'm looking at the 12 volt solutions kit.

    Thanks all! Here's the truck.

    Hey man welcome! Nice truck!

I put in the N2 designs remote starter, super easy and straight forward installation, look him up on here. I went with the GPS/remote module and its fanstastic. Love being able to start my truck and lock, unlock from anywhere I have cell signal (@N2DesignsInc )

I would start with an OEM bed mat if yours doesn't have one already, its a life saver for hauling and keeping things from sliding around.

Are you sure you don’t have it? My 2020 OR does and you have the Pro? Press the lock button 3 times on the key fob holding it down on the 3rd until it starts. Give 5 seconds or so. Maybe it started in 2020 but worth a shot if you didn’t know. I didn’t see it in the manual either, could have missed it I guess too.

I have also found that hood struts are very nice, raises the hood six inches above the factory prop height and gets the prop out of the way when working on it…$100.00 well spent.

I do have the bed mat already, kept it from my second gen hoping it would fit and it did. I'll look into that system, thanks.

I tried that remote start method and nothing happened, I'll have to try it again later to double check. Hood struts are a great idea!

I'm also thinking of adding the factory roof rack and TRD Pro bedside decal. Has anyone here had the dealer do those mods? If so, what's a ballpark figure I'd be looking at for costs?

Also curious if the roof rack whistles or makes noise at speed.

Hopefully someone who has one will chime in, but from what I've read on several threads the OEM rack is quiet when the cross member are stowed but does have wind noise when they are deployed.

Nice truck! Best of luck with it. Keep reading TW, you will come across stuff you never knew you needed :)

I find the bed-step to be fabulous for getting in/out of the bed, you'll appreciate
it more as your knees start to play games with you. Plus when people see it in
    action they do a double-take.

You're gonna look good in that truck !

Get used to babes throwing themselves at you... LOL

I believe it was added in 2020. When picking my truck up, I asked the dealership about it and they didn't even know it had remote start.

This bed-step. You can get OEM or after market, about the same price. So far the best and most used mod on my pickup truck. I paid around $200 and it's worth every penny. Like someone said before, as we get older climbing in and out of the bed, this sure makes life more enjoyable. Ya step on the edge to bring it down then flip it back up with the top of your toes. Hope this helps.....

Didnt realize my 2017 had remote start, previous owner never told me. I found out when I was startled when my truck started up "accidentally".. Nice surprise

Dude you gotta be kidding me! I just saw this and tried on a whim...bam started right up. Amazing thanks for the tip

Edit: quoted the wrong post. Thanks @mchertel for the tip! I bought the truck new and did not know you could remote start without the Toyota app. This is great

My 2019 Pro didn’t have remote start either, was a little disappointed but my new one has it. I was very tempted to buy the N2 and if your lucky sometimes you can snag one in the B/S/T but they go quick. Members have posted about having great success and above the top customer service with the guy that makes them.

Next few things for me is DMM, New MESO goodies, and possibly the bed mat and another truxedo cover, Kayaks in the back are real smooth in and out with no mat back there but everything else that isn’t tied down is a slip and slide.

Could you clarify "DMM" and "MESO" goodies?
