Things to consider: zip ties, electrical wire, baling wire and a pry bar. I'd leave some of the excess pliers, ratchets, and other redundant tools at home. Hopefully in the bed for traction aids you have a rope, tie-downs, a short piece of 1/4" log chain, and a come-along. Maybe a couple short pieces of 2X6's too.

If you live in snow or ice country, a pair of yaktrax or slip-on ice traction devices. Seems like you always break down in the worst weather. Mine fit under the seat just fine

Yeah, I always throw a set of chains in the back when there is any significant amount of snow.

I do have a come-along, although I rarely carry it.

I know it's not the same storage set up in the AC but I built a tool box for my rear seat storage bins to hold my tools , recovery bag and an axe

I just carry my cellphone and call for help.

On a more serious note, I do keep minor tools and flashlights. Just the basic stuff.

What he said. Obviously Eric knows what he is talking about. As a former lecturer on safety of life at sea,( where there is NO help) your kit should have what you need to sustain life support or injury mitigation for the length of time required for either support to arrive or for you to transport to help. As well, if you use it only once, getting training in Basic life support and advanced 1st aid is very well worth it.
If you think about it, most of our injuries out on trails are either crush or laceration, so the kit does not need to be huge, but should be comprehensive for those typical injuries. We are going to rule out heart and stroke, because they are almost entirely dependent upon time to care. This kind of talk scares some people, but it's better to know and be prepared than the alternative. ( no, I am not a prepper)

This is a great idea! I have not had the behind the seat storage before (access cabs and regular cabs). When my DCSB 2016 arrives I may steal some of your ideas. I have a full woodworking shop and can tell you do as well.
How did you get the plywood with the axe to stay in the back like that? Is it attached some how or just cut tight enough to stay in place? Thanks for the great idea!

I keep some spare fuses and an extra headlight in the glove box. And I agree, they are a must! Hose clamps however I do not have and will add to the list!

Adding Bailing wire and JB Weld. I use jb weld for some of the strangest things around my shop. Could come in handy in the truck. Thanks.

Thank you. While watching Deadliest Catch, it seems captains carry much more on board then they would normally be allowed to. Do they get certification to carry and administer as much as a paramedic?

    flashlight?
    hilift?

magnetic rechargeable trouble light? actually saw one at a fastenal one time really cool one, rechargeable LED one, had magnetic feet to stick to the truck if need be, great for working under the hood and around the truck in the dark, also had a strobe feature great if you're on the side of the road to help make sure people see you.

While I have my EMT cert, most of the stuff in my kit is OTC, or I got from my doc. doc stuff is things like Lidocaine and syringes for sutures, pain killers, stuff like that. The rest you can get online. SAM splint, tapes, C spine collar, etc.... I'll shoot you some pics of my kit tomorrow. it's not complete yet, but pretty close. Measures about 12"x16"x6" So not very bid, but has most of the needed stuff. Total cost so far, about $300. Built it over the last 2 years.
Oh, 1 new addition, is an Epi pen for anaphylactic shock ( stings and shit). They are now generic and cost about $10 vs $135 before.

:) You may want to include a repair kit for your engine hoses. You would need repair kits for both the large engine hoses and a kit for the heater hoses. If you should develop a hole in a hose near the end, then you may be able to cut the hose and reattach it. A repair kit for the hoses will work at the other places you can get a hole. Caring extra water will help also, just a gallon jug could be enough.
A spare fan belt could be part of a complete kit if you have room for caring parts. Good Luck.
