    Y'all,

I just just had a thought...I was thinking eventually I might need a bearing installer set.

I personally own a 5pc ball joint remover set that I have used only 1 time. It now just sits in my garage.

Long story short, I would be willing to loan the set to whoever needs it. All you would have to do is pay for the shipping. In return, if I ever need the bearing installer kit, one of you would do the same.

The idea is we would create a group of those who would be interested in joining. Once you have the 'borrowed' set, you would hold onto it until someone else in the group needed it. They would then pay for the shipping, use it and hold onto it as the previous person.

The idea is to never have to purchase EVERY SINGLE different kit/set.

Eventually, if the set has not been used in awhile (TBD), the owner would pay for shipping to re-establish ownership.

Let me know your thoughts, questions, comments, suggestions and concerns and if you would like to start up the group. I orginally thought of posting this on FB marketplace but decided against it because of all the scammers out there. I trust you guys at this point.

That's an alternative, yes, but a lot of times they won't have the tools you really need.

Btw, I am willing to keep a spreadsheet of the tools and who has possession of them at all times. Someone after all needs to! Lol

And, the tool can be ANYTHING. Something rarely used but necessary to make the job easier. I have accumulated a lot of tools over the past couple years because of all the work necessary to maintain my truck and don't mind loaning them to those who need them.

Also. this whole idea became a vision only because I am older, not financially capable of purchasing every single tool out there and why let your tools sit when someone else can make use of them?

Although I understand and can appreciate your position in life, I will add this.

My wife has supported my many purchases over the years in regards to buying tools and fixing everything myself, rather than giving all that hard earned money to parts mark up and labor charges for someone else to spend.

I may only need to use said tools once in a blue moon, but they are there when I need them, or when buddy in the area might need to use them.

But, I do respect your position and willingness to share.

Insayn, doesn't not only owning your tools but DOING all the work yourself give you complete gratification and the fact you are fattening your wallet?

    Yup!

    Cool

Put me down on the list of looking for a two stage, +60 gallon air compressor with at least 10cfm @80psi

Even better, fill the compressor tank with Helium to make it lighter. That should offset the cost......not!

Rather own my tools. I've seen how others treat tools. As for your idea- It might work if you constrained the tool-network to a region, in my case, east county San Diego, otherwise the cost of shipping and or gas is cost prohibitive compared to just owning the tool.

If you personally find that you've got tools that you don't use and just taking up space- try putting them on offer up.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along

A good idea in theory ! It never works .

This is why all rental places stores that loan tools collect deposits unless you have a good credit and account the tool can be charged to .

If you want this to work a membership fee for all at the cost of the most expensive tool. A few hundred dollars.

Are you going to keep track of everyone and who has what tools the addresses all the contact information ?

What brand Tools cheap Chinese knock offs or quality tools? Who replaces the tools that break ? It happens they do break and wear out.

Dealing with damaged or lost items in shipping who eats the cost while dealing with the shipping company?

The death of a member while having a tool who replaces that tool. Contacting the family sorry we need this tool back.

Just some points to ponder .

I loaned tools to close friends that never were returned
