    They work great in the snow. Used them on the jeep and on a stuck 4runner my wife and I came across. Guys was high centered on a snow bank. 1 front wheel spinning and 1 rear. Strapped these on the rear after he had been stuck for awhile and he drove right out. They are just meant to get you unstuck same as a traction board. They are not meant to be driven with or for you to hit the gas and spin the wheels. Its more for crawling forward.

    I have to believe a lot of that was user error.

    Also have snow chains, a shovel, and folding traction boards in the jeep. We did quite a few on the road recoveries this winter in Tahoe.

    IDK about that but know the area your going and know if you could hike back to a road. But yeah for the unknown or long adventure bring another vehicle.
