What's wrong with continuing to do it macgyver style? They need servicing so infrequently.

Just good to have the correct tools that's just me I guess. It yeah nothing wrong with that but just having the correct tools would be a reassurance

I have had a pair of those brake spring pliers as shown below for years, however have never found them to work especially well and end up just grabbing the springs with a 10" vise grip and tugging them over to the anchor point...

As far as specialty tools that looks pretty concise. Still don't need more than a pair of Channel Locks and maybe needle nose.

That was the point I was attempting to make earlier. He can already do it without all this stuff so why add a bunch of unnecessary tools unless they make it considerably easier.

I got your point bro. Just sorta a peace of mine having the correct tools to do the job. You owne specialty tools for other jobs? Yes I understand you may use them more then tools for a break drum but still do you own them? Do they help and make things easier?

Sorry man. Wasn't trying to give you shit. Just trying to add an opinion. I do own specialty tools but not for jobs I only do once every 5 years. It's not that difficult of a task without the special tools, that is all. Sounds like you know what you're doing so I'll leave it at that.

Go to Harbor Freight and pickup This kit helped immensely when I did my drums. Also get 2 8MM x 1.25 bolts to screw into the Drum to break it free. [IMG]
