So what did the larger throttle body do for your car? Or were you dynoing a different car?

Built for maximum low end torque, tooter II.VII intake manifold spacer, LCE long tube header, Injen long tube intake, 2,900 rpm torque peak.
It was for my car, and today I was dyno testing an intake manifold with a different plenum design.

It tested only about a one horsepower gain, so I'm going to try another idea. It's a lot of fun experimenting just to see what will happen. The larger throttle body is a lot more responsive and added a few horsepower to the top end. So I'm thinking of trying the same idea with the 2.7. :)

I think to see some impressive gains with that style manifold you would have to have forced induction, even a small turbo with low psi would probably benefit from the header style intake.

    I'm know that's true.
There's one guy in Puerto Rico who runs forced induction with the manifold and says the car rips. :burnrubber:

Drumroll, please! Let's put some guesses on paper here. I'll go on record guessing the dyno will register peak torque of 166 ft/lb @ 3050 rpm. Any other prognosticators want to take a stab at it?

Just for reference it presently is 157 ft/lbs @ 3,150 rpm.

I'll guess 159 ft/lbs @ 2,950 rpm because the torque value itself feels about the same, while the torque curve feels fatter at lower rpms.

    Fuck rocket science.

All along all NASA needed was a spacer.

Yep an 11in spacer would do it! On a more serious note I'm excited to se the dyno results.

I'll also guess that I'm trading off top end horsepower to get bottom end torque, because everything is a trade off. If it wasn't, Toyota would have already made the runners longer themselves. Nylon intake manifolds can be molded into any shape they choose without restrictions. Bottom end for top end is the kind of trade off I don't mind making as my engine rarely ever sees the sunny side of 3,000rpm.

Except for 1st gear. Hell you gotta rev to at least 3 just to not bog when you shift to 2nd. Haha

That's likely true for the off road 4x4 trucks. Even though they're geared lower, the larger diameter wheels and big heavy high aspect off road tires can bog the engine down. Mine's just a regular 5 lug street Taco with road wheels and passenger car tires, so it basically drives like a car.
