Great sounding product Tooter, I'd love to see if this product helps me with my own project. i got a 08 access cab with the auto. i've just ordered the fat bobs lift with the longer aal spring and the longer procomp shocks. i actually plan on taking mine offroad to places like calico here in cali. i've ordered 32" x 11.5 tires mounted on 15"x 8 wheels to help distribute the weight. i've ordered the obx long tube header for our trucks, plan on using the stock piping but using a higher flowing muffler and building my own safari intake ( just cause i think they look super badass), i'm hoping to get as much torque as possible to help move those big meats, so this looks like a great addition. Please let us know asap when we can buy one, and if you need another test rig let me know. i'm local and would love to help out.

The first production run will be ready any day now! :bananadance:

And thanks for your offer. I already have SingleCabGuy as the tester because he's been running his 2.7 Taco at the drag strip and has lots of timing slips for a valid before and after hard data empirical comparison. The rest of the testing was done with the prototype on the dyno before any were produced, and the results decided whether or not the spacer would yield enough real world gains to be worthy of selling.

I've been driving every day with the spacer on my truck for 2 and a half months now, and am pleased with the increased low rpm pull. The truck doesn't feel like it accelerates any faster (although SingleCabGuy will quanfity that for sure on the drag strip) but it definitely pulls stronger at very low rpms, and feels like I'm driving a tractor. :)

It's good you're getting a header. My header helped to lower the torque peak more than twice as much as the spacer did (650 rpm and 250 rpm), so both working together really helped to make a nice difference.

The OBX is a really good deal.

This OBX for 2005-2008 Tacomas is only $207 at Super Savers Accessories. :)

SounDS good Tooter, has anyone by chance done any research as to any gains from changing the size of our exhaust piping?

Tooter do you think the obx header would be better for low end because its a tri Y? Or is a 4 into 1 long tube like a lce gonna be better for low end.

I only have my own subjective experience opening up my stock exhaust with a Magnaflow straight through muffler. There was a noticeable loss of low end torque. And when I reinstalled the stock muffler a week later, the low end torque returned as before.

This proves that the engine needs some backpressure for low end pull. The stock exhaust system is hardly restrictive between 1,000 rpms and 3,000rpms but it does provide enough controlled backpressure so as not to lose the low end torque.

I'm happy with the stock muffler now that I know that removing exhaust restriction reduces the low end torque. It might add to top end performance, but I use my Taco as a fully loaded daily driver work truck that always runs under 3,000 rpm. Even on the freeway in 5th gear, only 3,000 rpm is 90 mph, and I never drive at that speed. So I'm only interested in low rpm power. :)

As a general rule, shorter header tubes affect higher rpm ranges. And longer header tubes affect lower rpm ranges. The OBX short tube 4-2-1 design would be better than the stock header.

And the folded long tube LCE would be better than the OBX.

But remember, it costs about 2 1/2 times more than the OBX so you pay for the better low end performance.

I have dyno results for my LCE header and the stock muffler. And they show the torque peak being reduced from 3,800 rpm down to 3,150 rpm. The tooter II.VII spacer further reduces the torque peak another 250 rpm down to just 2,900 rpm. This is a total 25% reduction in torque peak rpms which is significant.

Video of a dyno run with the LCE header, the stock muffler and exhaust, and the tooter II.VII spacer....

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6ofUy8_-6Q

...and a run from 25 mph to 70 mph on the road running the same components as the dyno run...

    No problem. :)
I'll keep them in stock so there's no hurry. The very first ones are done, and if I can get done with work quick enough, I'll be picking them up today.

The spacer kits are $245 including shipping. I just now started a FOR SALE thread in the 2nd Generation Marketplace. All of the information is there.

Sorry T@co... these spacers aren't commercially mass produced. Each one is manufactured one at a time so the cost per unit is considerable.

This is just a fun hobby. I have a real job that makes money to fund this project. My goal is just to break even on these spacers so that I can use the original capital to fund another project, because I also have ideas for other products. :)

The results were so good for the tooter II.VII intake manifold spacer, I'm going to make a 2 inch thick tooter I.V for the 1.5 1NZ FE engine. :)

When the spacer is installed, the throttle body is relocated 2 inches to the right so that the plug will not reach to the socket...

    IMG_7165_zps1a7b4b2e_eb662266a89adf43a08352f204e772a96a950033.jpg

If you remove the wiring loom from two of the holders and gently unwrap it, you will be able to free up enough slack from both the throttle body wires and the #2 ignitor wires so that both will reach their destinations. This reolcates the loom outside of its holders, so a couple of zip ties are needed to reattach it to the outside of the two brackets.

All the spacers ship USPS Priority Flat Rate because they fit into their medium size box. One went to Alaska for no extra charge. I'll check for Hawaii and get back to you. :)
