They were big boats, but the lines were just killer IMO.

Not true. This video shows it clearly. At 6:18 min on he talks about his mods. You may not have seen this video. He says "the frame doesn't come this low, I added extra frame rails." He added a "barricade" to the front. Of course he may not consider frame and suspension mods as mods. But there we go, you thought it was stock. This whole series is BS as he is not doing all that to a stocker. So it is totally irrelevant. I would have preferred he abused it stock to see how far it could go. This data is irrelevant and worthless.

Wasn't aware that some boxed metal on the frame and a front bracket helped keep the truck running on no coolant and made sure the front leaf springs didn't snap and helped the welded difs not explode with the wheels coming off the ground.

"some boxed"?? yeah, not some. Yes, adding steel to a frame, boxing it up increases stiffness and strength considerably. But maybe you have not seen this before and don't know about strengthening frames. The leaf he added was a solid piece with a fin for even more strength and stiffness. Can be seen clearly somewhere at the 8 minute mark. Of course this stuff is done often to make frames stronger for certain applications, he just went beyond.

You're right! I know nothing about strengthening frames if it affects all that stuff I mentioned.

Not talking about coolant. But if you had a point it was lost in your sentence.

Back in the day we would weld a truss on our 79-85 front axles because the stamped steel housing is fairly easy to bend. The birfield joints were quite fragile too. Toyota likely improved both on these later trucks. What's crazy is the Landcruisers designed around that time are significantly tougher.

Same set up with the solid axle, just no diesel. They are tough as that.

Plain 'ol screen shot from the vid Rat guy keeps going on about...

    Screenshot_20210616-010635_Samsung Internet.jpg

You can see the super duper frame mod, which was clearly booger welded on there to make the truck waaay more durable.. and not to be used to scoop the truck up with something. Like the youtuber said they were for.
    But hey, it's anyone's call.

I didn't realize the immortal status of a Hilux was in doubt.

Modded or not, but something tells me that some YouTube knob isn't going to have the brainpower to make much of a difference. One look at the front axle tells you this thing was built to the max from the get to.

I personally have enjoyed watching a guy known for destroying trucks try his hand at this. Modded or not, the fact this thing has lasted to 4 videos is amazing.

I know it's all for show/entertainment, and yes, the guy is definitely nuts.. but that truck took a severe pounding in the latest installment. I was cringing through most of it lol.
I may be wrong, but he almost.. almost.. seems like he has developed some spark of respect for that Hilux. Regret? No, but maybe respect.
Edit: Lol at the shade sprinkled on Chrysler products in that vid.
