just watched the episode last night and would take that taco anyday! that thing was bad ass! and funny how you never heard of one issue coming from the tacoma...made it the whole way nooo problem...so which truck is the toughest? the ones that whined and limped their way to the finish line, or the reliable truck that took that terrain down without a hitch? i'm still satisfied with my choice in trucks:cheers:

They say imports are pieces of crap. Ok then...lets examine a piece of crap (in theory, since we all know what crap is)

A piece of crap has the following attributes:

It is made of wasted material

It falls apart frequently (think of crap when you flush)

    They leave skidmarks

    Resale value isnt worth crap

now lets compare the big three products

Wasted material: The UAW drives up the cost of business for the big three, so they have to cut costs by cutting quality in development and their product to be competitive with none UAW companies. My past two work cars have been GM products: the last with 60K miles but was a 2002 Olds. The power window actuators had broken on three different times, the clearcoat was peeling, ect. My 03 acura has twice the mileage and has had none of the problems. Now I a driving a newer Chevy Impala SS. So far so good, but the bracket holding the window washer fluid bottle snapped off when I was snapping the lid back on. now it vibrates like a mother. pure junk. My dad drives an 03 GMC Duramax crew cab. Power telescoping side mirrors have never worked, seats smell like cows arse, had to replace fuel injectors, interior buttons have had their paint wear off ect.

falls apart frequently: see previous paragraph.

they leave skid marks: Oil leaks gallore and some are proud of that fact.

Resale value: Many argue that the diesel engines are just being broken in at 150k miles. well, if true, then what about the fuel injectors that cost over $5k to replace and need to be replaced every 100k to 150k miles? same cost of a new engine, plus can you imagine what would happen if the injectors and engine went out all at the same time? Besides, what good is a powertrain that lasts if the rest of the vehicle doesnt?

I had an owner of a body shop tell me that the best feature of a Dodge is their paint job. Best quality of paint he has seen. If thats true, why would someone buy a vehicle with crappy reliability that can leave you stranded on the side of the road. Who honestly cares about a good lookin broken down vehicle or breaking down in style?

So if Top Gear says toyota is a National disgrace, what the freak do these people value? Same with big 3 fanatics.

They called it a "Hilux", but it was a pickup. IIRC, Those years, the Hilux and the Pickup were pretty much the same....They also said the Dodge was powered by a "5.7" engine, when it was a 5.9.....

They said it was called a Hilux around the rest of the world after they said it was a 93 pickup. If anyone needs to brush up on their Toyota-ness it's them.

FYI- you can go to Historychannel.com and watch that episode.

Yep, I saw that show too and my first thought was The TW guys are gonna scream over this one', I know I'm echoing earlier posts but if they needed a truck they KNEW wasn't gonna break down, they picked, what else, a TOYOTA! Second< those douchbags can't drive for shit. Third, don't know about the Dodge or the Ford, but those years of the Chevy were some of the worst one they ever produced. Fourth, as for Built in America??? Umm, the new Camaro, built entirely in Canada, my taco, built in Fremont, CA. you tell me which one is a American car??? As far as I'm concerned, with corporate profits and shareholders and whatnot, my truck gave work to American families who put food on American plates, my truck was built with American union pride and it shows. Two best vehicles I've ever owned? '97 Saturn built in KN and my Taco.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
The US version of Top Gear is absolute rubbish. The hosts are so boring. It is pathetic how they act :crapstorm: like they are having a good time. I'd love to see them write off a Bugatti Veyron. I like that not a word was mentioned how the Toyota was there every step of the way! On another note...we need a group buy on the 4 cylinder supercharger.

That was GREAT episode! Hopefully they do another one like it. It didn't piss me off though. In fact it made me happy know that if one of the trucks would break down on them. They knew the Toyota would make it.
