I'm getting all my ducks in a row to install 3rd Gen "struts" in my 2012. The "struts" I'll be receiving won't have the six nuts to secure it to the upper mounts. I ordered non Toyota nuts - gr. 10.9 10mm x 1.25 nylock nuts. Will using these be acceptable? The Toyota nuts have a much thicker flange than the flange on these new nuts. I would imagine they would be ok, but thought I'd ask.....IMG_3756_1.jpg

grab a stainless fender washer and throw it on before the nut and call it good. Also you could just re-use the ones currently on the truck.

What “grade” are the non-Toyota fasteners?

Yea, I figured that a washer wouldn't hurt. I probably could reuse the originals but I'm planning for the worst case scenario and that they are corroded to the point that they might not be reusable......

Good call sir! shoot em with some penetrating oil before you go to take apart and you should be good, but grab some washers and you should be set.

The same shit everyone else has.
Pb blast the oem ones a few times, I bet they come right off and will be reusable.

If not, like everyone else said, add a flat washer under the nylocs.

Pro tip, hardened washers will be thicker than a flat washer. This will get you closer to the same thickness as the oem flanges.
