So this morning I ran into a small thin pole while backing up in this very tight parking garage (invisible pole). I got rewarded with this dent in the top of my tailgate (it was down with the bed extender), and I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions to fix it. Also if anyone knows a quote for this type of damage if I took it to a dealer or repair shop. Thanks!

Sorry to see that happen. But you're going to have to replace it. Not worth repairing that piece. You could try to find a used tailgate and swap your old parts over. That's the cheapest route i can think of.

Ouch. I'm thinking this is going to need to be replaced. I was lucky enough to earn a hit and run last year and was forced to buy a new tailgate. Mine was ~1300 for the tailgate shell and paint. Yours may run a little higher because of the damaged top piece.

    Good luck.

pull the plastic cap and fiberglass cover off.... take a hammer, and bang n pull the dent out.

Throw some "color match" paint so she dont rust... and call it good... total cost 7 bucks and a little bit of your time, and now you have a badge of honor and you wont baby your truck as much any more.

I feel your pain. Was backing around a dumpster and didn't see a piece of wood sticking out from it. Mine works so it stays. Hope you get yours figured out.
