Need help! Just installed a 3rd brake light on my soft topper.
    Don't know what's wrong.
Everything works normal when headlight DRLs are on. When I turn the headlights on, I'm having issues getting the 3rd to react to the brake pedal.
Brake lights didn't come with any how to. It's a Morimoto motorcyle brake light. Figured i could make it work as a 3rd brake, but i also don't know electrical. Lol
it had 3 wires attached to the light. Tapped all 3 into the 3 on the brake harness.
    Red went to #1 (power)
    Yellow went to #2 (?)
    Black went to #3 (ground)
Every video I watch on 3rd lights, they only have 2 wires to tap into. When I did just 2 (red, black), all 3 lights were on, but didn't react when the brake was pressed. This is why I tapped into the #2 wire with the yellow wire from the brake. 3 wires on both harnesses made sense that the issue would correct itself. Now the standard brake lights react, but the 3rd light is just on with zero reaction.
    Any help appreciated.

Nothing came with the brakes for instructions. I've just been referencing people wiring their topper lights via YouTube. But everybody only deals with 2 wires (#1, #3) wires.
If I'm guessing correctly, the 3rd wire needs to tap into a running light wire? But idk where that is.

I just found installation instructions. It says red wire is dim light and yellow is bright light.
Any idea where I would tap these into?

Just get the harness from @Puppypunter . He’s the guy. It’s plug and play. You really don’t want to tap on those wires and cause a short in the future . Think rain. Got one when I placed 3rd bl on my softopper a while back. It’s perfect.

    that helps

ignore the red, tape it off. connect the yellow to only the brake signal. black goes to ground of course. CHMSL's should not have a dim function.

But it'd be a great way to confuse people behind you. "Is he braking, no, wait, yes, now he is, is he? I can't tell"

which is technically a DOT lighting standard violation, which, if the person running into the back of the truck is knowledgeable enough, would make the tacoma driver liable for all damages...

lots of risk for zero reward, imo.
