Hey y'all. Just traded in an 04 Tundra for a new Tacoma DC Longbed. I am thinking of getting a topper. Since the bed doesn't have a lip, how do the toppers get mounted? Is the standard ARE, Leers type toppers a good fit? Thanks.

They mount with either bolts that go into threaded blocks in the bed rails ( my Leer is like that ) or a clamp that goes into the bed rail

I have the snug top super sport, it bolts down to the bed rails, very easy to install and remove. Great looking and a nice tight fit, they are a little pricey, you can find a good used one and get painted if needed.

I highly suggest an ARE. as stated above it mounts with clamps that attach to the bed rails.
I have the ARE MX mid rise with cross bars, sliding window light and had it carpeted.
Not the cheapest one out there but the best " mod" I have done to any of my rigs.
    love it

+1 on the ARE. Mounts quickly to the bed rails and is really a well made and nicely finished Cap. I've got the interior carpeting as well and the whole thing looks Factory finished.

Correct. ARE, Snugtop, Leer, etc...they all mount to the rail system. That includes both caps and fiberglass tonneau covers.

I have the snug top rebel, great shell! It uses 8(?) clamps that clamp onto the track system. I really like that it still allows me to use the track system to put the cleates in, etc. One thing I hate is that the tinted windows make it really hard to see when backing up at night. The back-up camera is a necessity! I am looking into high powered back up lights.
