Hi. Just got a 2011 access cab. I need to put a shell on it. Haven't found the shell yet but.... I just saw how to remove the bedliner rail caps. And saw what it looks like underneath. When I put on a shell I usually bolt through to keep it secure. I live where things come loose! How are most newer toppers connected to the bed? Would love to leave that rail liner on but don't see how it could be fastened down.
    Thanks

Most often with C-clamps mounted to the bed rails. You'll also want to pick up a correctly sized seal for the front wall of the bed.

This post gives part numbers for all of the seals necessary to get a good fit on 2nd gens.

I recently bought a used Leer bed cap, shell, topper, whatever you want to call them.
The Leer that I got has pieces that slide into the rail and bolts that attach to them.

does your 11 have the bed rails that take T-Nuts? that is how mine attaches, the t-nut slides into the track, and then bolt though the holes/tabs in the topper.

Thanks everyone! Things have gotten fancy since my last shell! Searched the site more and found the clamps that use the inside rail! Might get 8 instead of four.

well, depending on your cap you may only have the provision for 4, mine the tabs are fiberglassed into my topper. my topper hasn't moved, though if you're planning to pull the plastic top caps i might recommend, throwing some butyl rubber down under all that and along the front since that seems to be where most leaks from up front.
