I only use my hard top cover during the rainy and winter months and when I go on vacation the rest of the time it is off.

I had one on my old Ranger and f***ing hated it... but then again i never really needed it. I voted no. But if you plan on camping in it or something... go for it.

I think either or. If you dont use it for anything then I say take it off if you can. I have a softop supertop and I like it for camping and things like that.

I get better gas mileage with my snugtop on and people can't take stuff out the back of the truck. [IMG]

I will get one, one day. Unless one pops up for sale on CL wich happens often in my color. Use it in winter and when not store it in the garage from the cieling.

Yeah I like mine on personally especially during the winter. All the snow pretty much renders it useless. And I can keep it locked. Only time I take it off is if I'm bored with it our carrying my friends dune buggy around

it looks good, but dont have any use for it right now... so its pointless for me to have. all i have is the bed cover to store everything and not get stolen, that includes the tailgate

Some toppers look good and some look awful. Not the point of a topper (looks) but I personally think its pointless to have one unless you use it a lot and put stuff back there that can't fit under a tonneau.

I love my Softopper. If I need full use of the bed it folds up in 2 minutes. Keeps my stuff dry. The only downfall is it doesn't provide a lot of security. Other than that I think its a great product.

Hey, I want one to serve the same purpose. Looks like you have a Leer topper. I'm looking to get one. I want either the Leer 100XR or the 100XL. Is it a hassle taking off and putting back on? Because that's what I'll be doing. Here in WA the weather is unpredictable. Does anyone know how much hard topper typically weigh for the double cab (5ft) short bed?

If you are in snowy conditions I would say yes, otherwise all you get in winter is a bed of snow to haul around. For me, just a tool box and toss the rest in.

    Stock for now
I always had a shell on my trucks until my 06 Tacoma.
Honestly it was about spending the $$ so opted for as soft folding tonneau but occasionally searched 4 yrs for a used topper.
I finally found a used one that was in very good condition for $375 off CL.
It wasn't a color match for impulse red but not terrible being silver. The first time I drove it with the shell on it was just like old times. I love it. Not into spending the money so keeping it silver plus figure it will be easier to sell if I have too.
    Here it is.

i'll never not have a shell. truck is much more useful to me with one - almost useless space in the back without it. but then again, i don't haul motorcycles, which is one of the few reasons i wouldn't have one. not to mention the truck rides smoother, is more quiet and provides some rollover protection.

i like the canvas top because it can fold down if you need it to and you can remove it as one piece very very easily (a hard topper takes 2-3 people plus a place to store it) it is very light- maybe 30 lbs including the frame

and oh yeah, it cost me $250!!!!!1
