Getting ready to order a Century topper and can't decide if I have the factory put the Thule rack on or wait and decide if I need it. Anyone regret not putting it on?

I wondered the same, but the snug-top I'm about to order will give free labor on the rails, if factory installed. That convinced me to have them do it rather than do it myself sometime in the future when I got around to buying the rack

Do it. That way you don't have to drill it yourself in a hurry one night just before leaving on a trip... Was not a fun evening

I've ended up putting racks on both of my trucks' toppers. I prefer the rail systems, so you can remove the rack when not in use.

I have the Thule rack system on my leer, I haven't used it yet but I plan on buying a fishing kayak soon.

Unless they want a lot for it I'd have them install it for you. It's not hard, but it is time consuming and nerve racking making sure you have everything lined up then drilling holes in your brand new fiberglass. I installed the Yakima tracks on mine a couple of days after I got it; so far no issues but drilling that first hole took me a few minutes to actually pull the trigger on the drill.

I agree drilling into your new cap is nerve wracking. If the factory installs it, they guarantee it.

It's a $395 option. But I like the idea of it being covered under warranty. I've been looking for a used topper but can't find one. Hard to put a $1700 topper on a used truck I guess. Means the lift will wait a little longer.

From what I understand you can just get the tracks installed for around 100. Then you can buy the mounts later on Craigslist or go with a rack

That's exactly what I did on my snugtop and Yakima rack. Buy the topper with the rails installed, then find a deal on the rack itself. I think it was around 150 extra to include the tracks on the topper, and it's covered under the manufacturer's warranty.
