Haha funny how that happens. Idk how any can't like camping! Taking a few mushrooms and laying on a rock looking at the milky way is one my favorite things ever.

    I just need something a bit more knee friendly. Or, a 40lb diet . . .

I like the foam mat cutout idea, but I don't want to cut 16 of them.

Never tried schrooms. At least they smell better than weed, which at least smells better than cigarettes.:rofl:

But yeah. The stars, the breeze, the animal calls, a campfire, and only good peeps around. Couldn't be better. Pushes the Reset Button, hard.

Yeah, someone needs to make a die cut version of the foam cutouts with the adhesive tape already applied and sell them.

    Die cut is great idea.

I'd apply my own tape just not having to mess up 30 to make 16 good ones. Ha!

If a cap off a Nissan clamps down and seals out the water it won't look any worse than a soft top and will function better.

A fiberglass cap for a 5' bed Tacoma or Nissan weighs 150-180 lbs. A soft top about 50 lbs. An aluminum cap about 50-75 lbs.

Aluminum is cheaper than a soft topper, looks better, is actually water tight and does a better job of securing valuables if you want to save some money and weight compared to fiberglass.

Soft tops are what all the cool kids are playing with today, but this fad will pass sooner rather than later.

Two points of order: The softopper for the 5' bed weighs 36 pounds. And I bought my first one in 2004, sold it with my truck in 2008, regretted it, and bought my second one in 2016. Thats a long fad.:D

I do it with every wash, it only takes a couple of minutes. So yeah, every 4-6 months like @Skydvrr said.

I use the Car wash wheel brush on mine to scrub it About every 2 weeks. Then when I 303 I mist it on and scrub it in.

Aluminum shell looks better than a softooper huh. Interesting
Also, my softopper is also watertight. Never a drop of water anywhere in my bed after a rain storm. Put it on correctly and it seals up quite nicely.
And it’s not a fad either. People have been running these for years! It’s ok you can admit the are awesome to, I promise it won’t hurt your man card to do so lol. By the way, just poking fun at ya...:duel::cheers:

    Hi,

Anyone here running a Softopper (NOT bestop) with a Decked storage system on a 3rd gen Tacoma?

I have a Decked system and would like to add a Softopper. However, I am getting mixed information whether or not not it will work. Specifically at the Softopper open/close frame pivot point in reference to the Decked height.

If anyone is using this, can you please take some picks of the interior frame pivot point and confirm whether or not it clears the Decked height.

    Thanks in advance!

Here is an older picture. I loved my softopper but had to sell it because it would not fold down flat out of the way for larger items. Kept hitting the decked system. Now I’m running a hard shell with a utility trailer for larger items. Works well for me. Good luck.
