I have a 2014 access cab and I'm interesting in a topper/shell for it. I have a buddy who has an ARE on his Duramax, and it seems like a good one.

How much do they cost? For some reason I'm thinking they are about 2 grand with the paint.

What is a good price and decent quality brand and model? I have no idea.

I don't really need a lot of bells and whistles. Just need something that will last a long time.

I just priced them for my short bed. ARE's start around $1300, painted to match your truck. Closer to $1500 with a drop-down front window, which you really need so you can wash it and your truck rear window.

What he said. I have a Leer XR 100 with carpeted headliner/ cargo net, 3x 12 volt outlets, sliding 50/50 windows with screens, removable front window, and light inside that runs off car battery. Love it. 2300-2500$ all day. You get what you pay for.

Thanks for the tips, guys. I've got a local dealer that sells both Leer and AER, so now I can go in there and know what I want.

Might try to find something used. Seems like a grand would be fair for one that is clean and decked out with all this stuff

Just put a Leer XQ on mine. Removable screens, carpeted ,12v LED Light and electric lock,. $2325.00 before sales tax. It was delivered to dealer in 2 weeks to the day. Outstanding quality and the dealer service was top notch.

I just priced an A.R.E Z series here in Phoenix for $2300. Also a A.R.E V series for $1600. out the door. What I didn't like about the V series is the way the lip looked were it mounts on the bed. The Z looked more stylish. I will say this , I had the A.R.E on my 99 Tacoma and loved it with no issues .

Ended up going with a Leer 100r, with the headliner and slider/fold down front window.

Looks pretty darn nice. 1750 installed
