Alright, FJ is being sold. Now, I have the biggest hold up between the 16' TRD OR and the TRD Sport. I'll be heading up to college where there are massive amounts of fire roads, trails, rocky terrain and even sand dunes. I am going to explore. But which truck do I buy! Is it worth the extra for the OR to have as a college town daily driver plus the weekend fun?

One of my buddies was a nuclear engineering major with a commission and graduated with great grades and he had plenty of time to do stuff. (Drink)

I guess I'm asking how much will I NEED to use the rear locker and crawl control etc? sad to say but those color matched fenders and hood scoop look really good. and yeah I know extra money can fix all the above but I'm looking to buy and keep it as is for a long time. Budget will allow for either the sport or the OR

Wait for the 2017. The 2016 has too many issues. I have the TRD OR DCSB 4x4 with JBL and shitty transmission

The OR and the Sport are the same price. Go for the OR and get a manual transmission.

Yep, you said it yourself that you liked the aesthetic of the Sport. If your in Northern CA and have the option to buy a sport or OR off the lot, get what you want. I would have been happy with either, but in San Antonio 4x4 DC TRD's are in short supply, so I took what I could get OR, but would have been happy with either.

But if he had an automatic he can use one hand to steer and have a free hand for the coeds...rather than having to work his own stick.

Aside from all financial advice (of course unless you are in the very fortunate position where someone is paying in full for you)....

OR. Unless you want the skewp. Actually still OR and then just trade hoods with someone.

You got an awesome truck already. Can't you just take that $35k and invest it now and be waaaaay ahead of the curve later?

I have a hard time with these type of questions. I have to apologize in advance.

If you aren't thinking about your financial future now, then you really aren't college material.

It may be a new Toyota truck, but its gonna be a used truck just like the FJ real quick.

As for that crawl control feature, its just stupid. Marketing gimmick at best.

His financial situation is really none of your business. How can you say he isn't college material?

Financially and educationally God has granted many blessings upon me, we can forget that and focus on the question at hand. Trust me I would not dare waste any of your time if I was knowingly digging myself a hole.
