Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Yeah it was a interesting storm. Right now we are actually under a tornado watch ironically, wonder if it had anything to do with my post earlier? Either way I am not too worried about it, my bedroom is in the basement.

Stay away from the coastline and tsunami is not an issue.
Volcanic eruptions? They don't just "happen"... and when one does, the effect is far from localized.
We've had ONE in my lifetime.
    I'll take that risk.
Mudslides? As with tsunami, don't buy on a hillside.
Earthquakes? Potentially devastating... once every hundred or so years.
I've lived in the LA area my entire life (50 years). I've FELT many strong quakes including Northridge, Sylmar, Whittier, Upland, Pasadena... even the one in Mexico in 2010 shook the shit out of us.

I have never had so much as ONE item of personal property damaged by a quake. Could it happen? Sure. In 50 years has it? No. Not so much as a broken glass or bottle.

Contrast that to the risks of hurricane and tornado... EVERY FREAKING YEAR!!!!!!!!!!

...i think hurricanes would be a major PITA, ...gulf coast states/florida, ...but tornadoes have much narrower swaths... albeit much more frequent, ..and it's a crap shoot...

also forgot to mention wildfires, santa ana wind problems/fires, etc... i dunno, nanny-state aside,... i still see a lot of risks to living in CA - especially when you consider freshwater supply (or lack thereof)... as for the volcanoes in the cascades, ..well when one of those decides to go "boom" the fallout could be catosrophic, especially w/ triggering a huge mudslide...

make sure you have the roof(s) inspected, ...even if you don't see physical damage to the shingles from ground level, the may be compromised because hail can knock the granules off the shingles, ..making them much more susceptable to degredation to solar radiation.. check for granules in the gutter exhaust... ;)

Lived in Indiana for 20 years and was involved in 3 Tornadoes. Terrible times for sure...

But I live in AZ now and am safe for the most part...although one touched down here in the valley not long ago...I think it was in Gilbert.

Got lucky and no real damage, my dad had some dents on the roof of his truck from it. I can't believe that tore up your siding like that. Crazy what weather can do.

Tornadoes are crazy, but just like all the rest, it depends on what you are used to. I don't see them as that big of a threat to me. I'm in the middle of Iowa (the entire state is lit up on that map). I've lived here for 32 years and I've never actually seen or been in the path of a tornado. For me, i'd rather stay in Iowa than be in the path of a hurricane or anywhere near an earthquake.

Does anyone remember the system that went through northeastern Ohio/western PA on May 31 1985? An F4 went through about 7 miles from my house. Around 7 people were killed in my county. I remember picking up a receipt in my yard from a place in Ohio....

Me too  a ton of people was in Hampton then tho...lotta people living on boats right in there too  I know a guy with a 55' Hatteras down there, ripped off the top from the bridge and cracked the platform off the back :(
Hurricanes you get warnings (fuk em anyway, moved from Miami cause fu) but these tornado's seem to just drop down and select shit to demolish  Scary shit...I don't think we used to have em here...but the last two years seems to be attracting them :notsure:

I called Indiana home for years and have lived in Mississippi for the past several years (in fact, the only two states I've ever lived) and I've never actually witnessed a tornado in person though I've seen some of the after affects.

I have had property damage from weather but, only from hail and straight line winds.

Unlike hurricanes and earthquakes, tornados tend to be very focussed causing damage only where the actually strike.
