So as the title states, the torque converter is starting to have an issue. I've kept up on draining and replacing fluid as required and now have a shudder at 25 or 30 mph under light acceleration. Truck is an Auto 3.5 with 4x4 if that makes any difference.

Anyone hear dealt with this and how did you fix it? Replace the TC?

I'm at 110k. How much did it cost if you don't mind me asking? I may have them just do the coolant bypass line at the same time if I have to replace the TC.

Well, the total cost for the Torque Converter Labor and parts. at my Toyota dealer came to $2500.00. I did check with some local shops, and they did not want to deal with it. I made a mistake at the mileage, 127100687_3499869916745424_3090639124268198566_n.jpg Checked my records, it was at 85000 miles, I am at 96000 now with no issues.

I’d do more diagnostic work and not just go straight for the converter.
It seems low speed shudders are common, mine has day one.
What fluids are you referring to? As far as I know, Toyota doesn’t have a filter and fluid change interval in the owner’s manual.

I would try a complete flush at a tranny shop, if that does not help then see what they recommend.

Transmission should have the pan drained and refilled every 60k or so. Transmission fluid does wear out and then you're asking for a really bad day.

The shudder came on pretty suddenly after 110k miles of not having one. I've read of quite a few tacoma having the TC take a dive and considering mine came from the factory low on fluid it seems most likely. If we had a third gen problems bingo I would have hit black out by now.

At this point I've seriously considered just burning the thing and collecting the insurance money but have to remember the current car buying market is upside down.
