Torque shudder

My name is Scott. I own a 2018 Tacoma TRD sport. When at a steady speed and a steady rpm I am experiencing transmission torque shudder. It feels like the motor is misfiring because it gives you a hesitating feeling but the motor isnt. Has anybody else experienced this feeling? Truck isnt enjoyable to drive when it happens.

I get it occasionally. I've noticed it happens when the following conditions are met:

1. Trans temp just surpasses threshold to allow torque converter lockup (truck is warmed up, but not entirely).
2. Speed is 30-35mph
3. Torque converter locked (5th? gear, 1000-1200 RPM)
4. Accelerating slightly

Goes away entirely when the truck is fully warmed up. I'm not sweating it, but yours might be worse.

 

Mine does it. After the new transmission software it was virtually eliminated but now has slowly gotten worse over time & trans just acts poorly. Might try unhooking battery & see if that will reset transmission adaptations.
