Not a big tool guy, actually have none. But just help some guys put my 3 inch lift in, and he had some nice Torque Wrenches. Anyway I want to be able to check my U bolts, and UCA bolts, and lug nuts from time to time. Was looking at some Craftsman types but don't know if I should get 3/8's or 1/2 inch drive for the auto needs? Thanks for any help you can give me.

    I have both..

I say I use the 1/2" torque wrench the most. If you want to save some cash, buy a 1/2" to 3/8" adapter.

The ft# range the wrench will need to perform under is the key, not just the drive size. I have both sizes.

I have both as well, but if I had to have one I would get the half. no doubt about it. Also check out harbor freight, I the pittsburg steel one. lifetime garuntee, I think it was 20 bucks. I love it.

If you are using a craftsman, might as well just use a long ratchet and take a guess. they are junk and not accurate

I have a Craftsman for the 3/8" and a Harbor Freight elcheapo for the 1/2". I figure for the big stuff, like torquing lug nuts and suspension parts, close and consistent is good enough. If I were rebuilding an engine I'd probably think differently.

I have to agree, my friend has one and we set both of ours to 70 with a stainless bolt. the craftsman snapped it, my inexpensive one nailed it. We had a snapon to check

I have a beam type torque wrench (a pain but accurate) and my Craftsman torques accurately when compared to that.

Hey man don't know if you saw this but that wrench is on sale just $10 today. I was going to get the Craftman, but for $10 thought I'd grab that...
